Sevda Karaca Demir
Sevda Karaca Demir (born, 1984, Adana, Turkey) is a journalist and politician of the Hoxhaist Labour Party (EMEP). Since June 2023 she is a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey representing Gaziantep. Before she was a journalist for the newspaper Evrensel. Early life and education Sevda Karaca was born in 1984 in Adana, as the daughter of a textile workers family. She studied political sciences at the Middle Eastern Technical University (ODTÜ) and was tempted by journalism. Professional career In 2007, Sevda Karaca began as a journalist for Evrensel and was also involved in founding Hayat TV. For Hayat TV, Karaca was a reporter from Ankara. She also became the presenter of the show Ekmek ve Gül that focuses on the women's workers rights. In 2010 she established a women's supplement to the Evrensel also called Ekmek ve Gül. Grand National Assembly Of Turkey
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey ( ), usually referred to simply as the GNAT or TBMM, also referred to as , in Turkish, is the Unicameralism, unicameral Turkey, Turkish legislature. It is the sole body given the legislative prerogatives by the Constitution of Turkey, Turkish Constitution. It was founded in Ankara on 23 April 1920 amid the Turkish War of Independence, National Campaign. Bianet (acronym for ) is an Independent news agency based in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. Focused on human rights in Turkey it is mainly funded by a Swedish organization. Bianet was established in January 2000 by journalists around , former representative of Reporters Without Borders, and left-wing activist Ertuğrul Kürkçü and is tied with Inter Press Service. It is mostly funded by the European Commission through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR). Erol Önderoğlu served as the monitoring editor for Bianet for several years. His work for Bianet included quarterly reports on free speech in Turkey. A 2022 study said that it partly followed the principles of citizen journalism. It is active on social media. Duvar was an online news portal which focuses mainly on Turkish politics. Duvar's headquarters are located in Sariyer Istanbul. Parliamentary immunity in Turkey exists since the Turkish constitution was accepted in 1924. It is meant to grant immunity to the members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey before the judiciary and has been based on the parliamentary immunity which France has as well. Parliamentary immunity can be lifted if the parliaments majority votes so.
