Abasha
Abasha ( ka, აბაშა) is a town in western Georgia with a population of 4,941. It is situated between the rivers of Abasha and Noghela, at 23m above sea level and is located some to the west of Tbilisi. The settlement of ''Abasha'' acquired the status of a town in 1964 and currently functions as an administrative center of the Abasha Municipality within the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. The headquarters of the Georgian Orthodox Eparchy of Chkondidi is also located in Abasha. The modern history of Abasha is primarily associated with a resonant Soviet-era economic experiment introduced by the Georgian Communist party chief Eduard Shevardnadze in the 1970s. In 1971, Shevardnadze grouped all regional agricultural institutions, including the kolkhoz, into a single management association. FC Borjomi
FC Borjomi is a Georgian football club based in Borjomi. Since the 2021 season they have been a member of Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football system. The team has spent four seasons in the top flight. Their home ground is Jemal Zeinklishvili Stadium. History Founded in 1936, FC Borjomi participated in Georgian regional championship for many years. From 1993/94 they spent several seasons in the second and third division. In 2004/05 Borjomi finished 2nd in Liga 2 and got promoted to Umaglesi Liga, where the club competed for four seasons. The fifth place in 2005/06 is the best result Borjomi have achieved in Georgian leagues. It is noteworthy that the club won 14 home games out of 15, including against the top three leaders. In the 2007/08 season Borjomi won the group stage of David Kipiani Cup and reached the semifinals, but the next year the club finished in the bottom place and quit the league.
