''Settle Down City'' is the debut album by the American rock band Young Widows. The album was released on September 12, 2006 through Jade Tree. In December 2005, vocalist Steve Sindoni parted ways with the band Breather Resist, leaving Evan Patterson, Nick Thieneman and Geoff Paton to write and record a follow-up to their debut album ''Charmer'' (2004) as a three-piece. The remaining three members entered the studio in April 2006 ''Settle Down City'', but decided that their sound had changed too much and changed their name and released the album under the name Young Widows instead. ''Settle Down City'' received generally favorable reviews from music critics. Young Widows
Young Widows is an American band from Louisville, Kentucky. They have released four full-length albums and seven split EPs. History Young Widows formed in 2006 from the ashes of mathcore group Breather Resist. In December 2005, lead singer Steve Sidoni left Breather Resist, and guitarist Evan Patterson and bassist Nick Thieneman assumed the vocal duties. They entered the studio in early 2006 but found that their sound had changed significantly. They then changed the name from Breather Resist to Young Widows. Preceded by a split 7-inch with Coliseum, their debut full length titled ''Settle Down City'' was released in September 2006 on Jade Tree Records. Citing a lack of interest from Jade Tree, the band later moved to Temporary Residence Limited where they released their second album '' Old Wounds'' in September 2008. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Noise Rock
Noise rock (sometimes called noise punk) is a noise-oriented style of experimental rock that spun off from punk rock in the 1980s. Drawing on movements such as minimalism, industrial music, and New York hardcore, artists indulge in extreme levels of distortion through the use of electric guitars and, less frequently, electronic instrumentation, either to provide percussive sounds or to contribute to the overall arrangement. Some groups are tied to song structures, such as Sonic Youth. Jade Tree International, Inc. is an independent record label formed by Darren Walters and Tim Owen in 1990 in Wilmington, Delaware. History Origin (1987–1990) In 1987, Tim Owen and Darren Walters were introduced during a punk show in Washington, D.C. At the time, Walters was a student at the University of Delaware where he had already independently released records on his label, Hi-Impact Records. To further these musical pursuits, Darren teamed up with Rochester Institute of Technology student Tim Owen, and his friend Carl Hedgepath. Together, they created their own label, Axtion Packed Records. Both Axtion Packed and Hi-Impact focused on straight edge hardcore and produced vinyl records in 45 format.
