Sertã (), officially Sertã Town (), is a municipality in Castelo Branco District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 15,880, in an area of 446.73 km2. The present mayor is José Farinha Nunes, elected by the PSD. The municipal holiday is the June 24. Etymology The town's name literally means " frying pan", but is near-certainly a phono-semantic matching of a pre-Roman toponym. This hasn't stopped the creation of all manner of folk etymological legends seeking to explain name of the town, the most famous of which is the so-called "Legend of Celinda", supposedly a Lusitanian woman who had been frying eggs while the settlement was under attack by Quintus Sertorius' forces and, upon learning of her husband's death, poured boiling hot cooking oil on the besiegers. Serta is an American company based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, that manufactures mattresses. History The company was founded in 1931 in Illinois as Sleeper, Inc. by 13 mattress manufacturers who licensed the Serta name. Subsequently, eight independent franchising, licensees acting like a cooperative owned the company. Afterwards, it was controlled and operated as Serta International by its largest licensee, National Bedding Company, which ultimately held 27 of the 34 U.S. Serta manufacturing licenses. In 2005, two private equity groups teamed up to purchase National Bedding Co.–The Ares Corporate Opportunities Fund, the Los Angeles-based private equity fund of Ares Management, and Teachers’ Private Capital, the private equity arm of the Ontario (Canada) Teachers’ Pension Plan. The Syriac alphabet ( ) is a writing system primarily used to write the Syriac language since the 1st century. Sêrtar County
Sêrtar County or Serthar County (; zh, s=色达县) is a county in the northwest of Sichuan Province, China, bordering Qinghai province to the north. It is one of the 18 counties under the administration of the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, covering some . Sêrtar, which means "golden freedom" in Tibetan, lies in the southeast of the Tibetan Plateau and in the historical region of Kham. The vast majority of the population is Tibetan, followed by Han Chinese. Sêrtar comprises 17 towns and 66 villages. It is home to the Larung Gar Buddhist Institute, the largest Tibetan Buddhist institute in the world. The institute, which was founded by lama Jigme Phuntsok in 1980 and started off with just a few monks, now houses tens of thousands of monks and pilgrims from around the world, which constitute the vast majority of the Sêrtar population.
