Serin Murray
Serin Murray (born 1981) is an Australian mixed martial artist. She is the current ISKA World Oriental Rules Super Flyweight champion. Career Murray's MMA debut was in 2006 in Tokyo's Korakuen Hall against Megumi Fujii, who is one of the best women MMA fighters in the world. Murray was the first Australian woman in the Smackgirl event, but Fujii forced her submission in the first round with an ankle lock. Murray now specializes mainly in Muay Thai. On 4 July 2009, she won the ISKA flyweight Muay Thai world title against Japan's Noriko Tsunoda. Smackgirl was a Japanese mixed martial arts promotion focused solely on Women's mixed martial arts, female fighters. The promotion also held grappling and amateur events along with its main line of professional MMA cards. After financial difficulties throughout 2008 the promotion was sold to Marverous Japan Co., Ltd. and Rebranding, rebranded Jewels (mixed martial arts), JEWELS. Unlike conventional MMA in Japan, Smackgirl did not allow striking to the head while in a grounded position. There was also a 30-second limit for ground fighting but it was abolished by 2008. Megumi Fujii (藤井 恵 ''Fujii Megumi'', born April 26, 1974) is a Japanese former professional mixed martial artist and submission wrestler. Fujii is regarded as a pioneer of women's mixed martial arts. She specializes in submission fighting and is known for her quick takedowns and submissions. Her most popular move is the Inazuma toe hold submission, dubbed the ''Megulock''. Background Fujii started judo at the age of three due to her father's influence and continued competing at Shukugawa Gakuin Junior High School and Kokushikan University. She retired from judo after graduating from university with a degree in physical education, and became interested in combat sambo. Korakuen Hall
is a sports arena in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan, which has hosted boxing, professional wrestling, kickboxing, mixed martial arts and Lethwei matches. History On April 16, 1962, the Korakuen Hall was officially opened with a capacity of approximately 2,000 people. It is located inside the Tokyo Dome City, one of Tokyo's biggest attractions. The ISKA (originally International Sport Karate Association, later also called the International Sport Kickboxing Association) is international bodies regulating sport karate and kickboxing matches.
