Serhiy Kotenko
Serhiy Leonidovych Kotenko ( uk, Сергій Леонідович Котенко; 16 July 1967 – 9 March 2022) was a Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and participant in the 2022 Russian-Ukrainian war who posthumously received the Hero of Ukraine on 16 March 2022. Prior to the war, he was head of the Haisyn District State Administration (2014–2015) and Commander of the 9th SMIB. Biography Serhiy Kotenko was born in Haisyn, Vinnytsia Oblast. He graduated from Kamianets-Podilskyi Higher Military Engineering Command School in 1989. He served in the army for 22 years. In 2014–2015, he headed the Haisyn Regional State Administration, and later returned to military service. Commander of the 9th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Vinnytsa Scythians". From 24 February 2022, he took part in the Russian-Ukrainian war. He died on 9 March 2022, in a battle with Russian forces near Zaporizhia. Haisyn or Haysyn ( uk, Га́йсин, Haysyn; pl, Hajsyn; russian: Га́йсин, Gaysin) is a city in central Ukraine, the administrative center of the Haisyn Raion in Vinnytsia Oblast. Aidar Battalion
24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar", also known as the Aidar Battalion, is an assault battalion of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The unit took part in the war in Eastern Ukraine and had roughly 300-400 members in 2014. It was named after the Aidar River in the Luhansk region where it was initially deployed. In 2014, Amnesty International reported that members of the Aidar Battalion had committed war crimes during the War in Donbas.
