Sergio Leavy
Sergio Napoleón "Oso" Leavy (born 22 November 1963) is an Argentine businessman and politician, currently serving as a National Senator for Salta Province since 2019. A member of the Victory Party and president of the party's Salta chapter, Leavy previously served as a National Deputy from 2017 to 2019, as ''intendente'' (mayor) of Tartagal, Salta from 2007 to 2017, and as a member of the provincial Chamber of Deputies from 2003 to 2007. Early life and career Leavy was born on 22 November 1963 in San José de Metán, Salta Province. His mother, Nelly Martínez, was a cooking teacher, while his father, Eduardo Luis Leavy, was a dentist. The Honorable Senate of the Argentine Nation ( es, Honorable Senado de la Nación Argentina) is the upper house of the National Congress of Argentina. Overview The National Senate was established by the Argentine Confederation on July 29, 1854, pursuant to Articles 46 to 54 of the 1853 Constitution. There are 72 members: three for each province and three for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Legislative elections were held in Argentina on 22 October 2017 to elect half of the Chamber of Deputies and one third of the Senate. The result was a victory for the ruling Cambiemos alliance, being the most voted force in 13 of the 24 districts. 2013 Argentine Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Argentina on 27 October 2013. Open primary elections (PASO) were previously held on 11 August 2013 to determine eligible party lists for the general election. As in 2011 – when such primaries were held for the first time – each party list had to reach a 1.5% threshold at the provincial level in order to proceed to the 27 October polls. The Salta Renewal Party ( es, Partido Renovador de Salta; PRS) is a conservative provincial political party in Salta Province, Argentina. The party is a federalist party, believing in strong and renewed provinces with power decentralised from Buenos Aires.
