Sergey Korsakov (cosmonaut)
Sergey Vladimirovich Korsakov (Russian Cyrillic: Сергей Владимирович Корсаков; born 1 September 1984 in Frunze, Kirghiz SSR) is a Russian cosmonaut selected by Roscosmos in 2012. He was scheduled to make his first flight into space in April 2021 as a flight engineer aboard Soyuz MS-18 ahead of a stay aboard the International Space Station; but was replaced on the crew by Mark Vande Hei in March of that year. He was then assigned to Soyuz MS-21, which launched successfully March 18, 2022. Bishkek
Bishkek, formerly known as Pishpek (until 1926), and then Frunze (1926–1991), is the Capital city, capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chüy Region. Bishkek is situated near the Kazakhstan–Kyrgyzstan border, border with Kazakhstan and has a population of 1,074,075, as of 2021. The Khanate of Kokand established the fortress of Pishpek in 1825 to control local caravan routes and to collect tribute from Kyrgyz people, Kyrgyz tribes. Mark Thomas Vande Hei (born November 10, 1966) is a retired United States Army officer and current NASA astronaut who has served as a flight engineer for Expedition 53, 54, 64, 65, and 66 on the International Space Station. Early life and education Vande Hei was born November 10, 1966, in Falls Church, Virginia from Dutch parents. He graduated from Benilde-St. Margaret's High School in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, in 1985. Vande Hei earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Physics from Saint John's University in 1989, and a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from Stanford University in 1999. Soyuz MS-18 (spacecraft named "Y. A. Gagarin") was a Soyuz (spacecraft), Soyuz spaceflight that was launched on 9 April 2021 at 07:42:41 Coordinated Universal Time, UTC. Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic
The Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic (Kirghiz SSR), also known as the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic (Kyrgyz SSR), KySSR or Kirgiz Soviet Socialist Republic (Kirgiz SSR), was one of the constituent republics of the Soviet Union (USSR) from 1936 to 1991.
