Sergei Vyshedkevich
Sergei Iosifovich Vyshedkevich (born January 3, 1975) is a Russian former professional ice hockey defenseman who last played for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Kontinental Hockey League. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the third round, 70th overall, of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Career After playing two seasons with Dynamo Moscow, Vyshedkevich came to North America to play with the Devils' AHL affiliate, the Albany River Rats, in the 1996–97 season. Vyshedkevich played three full seasons with the River Rats before the Devils traded him to the expansion Atlanta Thrashers as part of a deal during the 1999 NHL Expansion Draft. While with the Thrashers, Vyshedkevich appeared in 30 NHL games across two seasons, scoring two goals and adding five assists. During the 2001–02 season, the Thrashers traded him to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim along with Scott Langkow in exchange for Ladislav Kohn. Atlanta Thrashers
The Atlanta Thrashers were a professional ice hockey team based in Atlanta. Atlanta was granted a franchise in the National Hockey League (NHL) on June 25, 1997, and became the League's 28th franchise when it began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, 1999–2000 season. They were members of the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division of the NHL's Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference, and played their home games at what is now known as Philips Arena, State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta. 2001–02 NHL Season
The 2001–02 NHL season was the 85th regular season of the National Hockey League. Thirty teams competed in an 82-game regular season. The regular season began on October 3, and the playoffs concluded on June 13, with the Detroit Red Wings defeating the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Finals in five games, winning their tenth Stanley Cup in franchise history. IIHF European Champions Cup
The IIHF European Champions Cup (ECC) was an annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), which took place during a long weekend in early January. The winner was considered the official club champion of Europe by the IIHF. The Champions Cup was first played in 2005, as a replacement for the defunct European Cup (1965–1997), and the suspended European Hockey League (1996–2000). In the 2008–09 season, the ECC was replaced by the Champions Hockey League, which was the new official European club championship event. The new tournament was cancelled after only one season. The Russian Open Hockey Championship (), also known as the Championship of Russia in ice hockey (), is an annual ice hockey award and national title, bestowed by the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia to the professional hockey organization judged to have the best performing team in Russia. International Hockey League (1992–1996)
The International Hockey League (IHL) () lasted from 1992 to 1996. It replaced the Soviet Union's Championship league. The last season was in 1995–96, as the league was replaced by the Russian Superleague the following season. There were two awards in the league. 2010–11 KHL Season
The 2010–11 KHL season was the third season of the Kontinental Hockey League. It was held from 8 September 2010 and ended on 16 April 2011. The season started with the Opening Cup game between the last season's finalists, Ak Bars Kazan and UHC Dynamo, the new team that was created by merging last season's Western conference winner HC MVD with Dynamo Moscow. The Russian Superleague (, ''Russian Championship Superleague''), commonly abbreviated as RSL, was the highest division of the main professional ice hockey league in Russia. It was considered the second-best league in the world, after the National Hockey League (NHL) of North America. It was a part of the Russian Pro Hockey League which was composed of three divisions — the Superleague, Major League (''Vysshaya Liga''), and First League (''Pervaya Liga''). The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks were a professional ice hockey team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were members of the American Hockey League, and played their home games at the Cincinnati Gardens.
