The Serbian Left ( sr, Левица србије, ЛС / Levica Srbije, LS) was a minor centre-left social democracy, social democratic political party in Serbia. In April 2019 the Serbian Left merged into Dragan Đilas's Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP). History The Serbian Left was founded by Borko Stefanović as a splinter from the Democratic Party (Serbia), Democratic Party. In the 2017 Serbian presidential election, the Serbian Left supported "either Janković or Jeremić". An attack on its leader Stefanović in late 2018 was instrumental in kicking off Serbian protests (2018–present), major protests around the country. The Democratic Party ( sr, Демократска странка, Demokratska stranka; , DS) is a social-democratic and social-liberal political party in Serbia. The party was officially founded on 3 February 1990 by a group of Serbian intellectuals as a revival of the original Yugoslav Democratic Party. It was one of the main opposition parties to the presidency of Slobodan Milošević during the 1990s. The Social Democratic Union ( sr, Социјалдемократска унија, Socijaldemokratska unija; abbr. СДУ, SDU) was a minor social democratic and leftist political party in Serbia. In 2020 Party merged into Party of the Radical Left. History The Social Democratic Union was registered on 13 May 1996. It was founded by former members of the Civic Alliance of Serbia, led by Žarko Korać, who opposed forming coalition with the right-wing Serbian Renewal Movement for the 1996 federal election. On 21 April 2002 the SDU merged with Social Democracy (SD) and founded the Social Democratic Party (SDP). A year later, disenchanted members of the SDP, led by Žarko Korać, left and re-founded the SDU on 29 March 2003. The Movement for Reversal ( sr-Cyrl, Покрет за преокрет, Pokret za preokret, PZP) is a centre-left political organization in Serbia. Its leader is Janko Veselinović, a professor at the University of Novi Sad. History Movement for Reversal was found in 2015, by a Serbian academic Janko Veselinović, who decided to split from the Social Democratic Party, claiming that its leadership does not have a clear vision of how to counter the Serbian Progressive Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia. The organization participated in the 2016 Serbian parliamentary elections in a coalition along with the Serbian Left and the Social Democratic Union. However, the coalition finished ninth with 0.94% of the votes and failed to pass the census. In 2018, the organization was one of the founding members of the major opposition coalition called the Alliance for Serbia. The coalition boycotted the 2020 Serbian parliamentary elections.
