Serap Yazıcı
Serap Yazıcı (born 1963 in Ankara, Turkey) is a Turkish politician and academic of Constitutional Law. She was a member of a committee tasked with drafting a proposal for the new constitution of Turkey. She was elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey from Antalya in the 2023 Turkish parliamentary election. Although she was member of the Future Party, she was elected from the Republican People's Party list. However, She resigned from the Future Party on February 22, 2025. She joined the AKP on February 23, 2025. Early years At the age of thirteen, she lost her eyesight in a car accident with her family, at which her mother was killed. She was educated in the Faculty of Law at Ankara University, and graduated earning a bachelor's degree in 1984. 1980 Turkish Coup D'état
The 1980 Turkish coup d'état (), headed by Chief of the General Staff General Kenan Evren, was the third coup d'état in the history of the Republic of Turkey, the previous having been the 1960 coup and the 1971 coup by memorandum. During the Cold War era, Turkey saw political violence (1976–1980) between the far-left, the far-right ( Grey Wolves), the Islamist militant groups, and the state. Turkish women in academics refers to Turkish women who make scientific research or teach in the universities in Turkey and abroad. Background During the Ottoman Empire era women had no chance to teach in the universities except for the very last years of the empire when Committee of Union and Progress (İttihat ve Terakki Partisi) came to power. The first Turkish woman who was able to teach in Istanbul University (then known as Darülfunun) was Halide Edib (later Halide Edib Adıvar) in 1918.
