Septobasidium Meredithiae
''Septobasidium'' is a fungal genus within the family Septobasidiaceae. Approximately 175 described species are associated with this genus. 227 records are listed by Species Fungorum. ''Septobasidium'' species are known to be entomopathogens. Description ''Septobasidium'' spp. are characterized by their presence on the underside of branches and leaves of deciduous trees, shrubs and in a symbiotic association with scale insects (Coccoidea), such as the Latania Scale Insect, ''Hemiberlesia lataniae''. Also the European pear scale (''Epidiaspis leperii'' (Signoret 1869)) and ''Septobasidium marianii'' which created a mutualistic symbiosis formed by the fungus and the scale insects on fruit trees in Slovenia. Fruiting bodies form a crust ( resupinate) and range in color and size, from small patches (1 mm in diameter) to 2 meters wide. Narcisse Théophile Patouillard
Narcisse Théophile Patouillard (2 July 1854 – 30 March 1926) was a French pharmacist and mycologist. He was born in Macornay, a town in the department of Jura (department), Jura. He studied in Besançon, then furthered his education at the École Supérieure de Pharmacie in Paris, where in 1884 he earned a diploma with a doctoral thesis involving the structure and classification of Hymenomycetes called "''Des Hyménomycètes au point de vue de leur structure et de leur classification''". With Jacques Emile Doassans he issued the exsiccata ''Champignons figurés et désechés'' (1880-1883). Patouillard was a practicing pharmacist for more than forty years, first in Poligny, Jura, Poligny (1881–84), and later in Fontenay-sous-Bois (1884–85), Paris (1886–1898) and Neuilly-sur-Seine (beginning in 1898). Resupinate
Resupination is derived from the Latin word ''resupinus'', meaning "bent back with the face upward" or "on the back". "Resupination" is the noun form of the adjective "resupine" which means "being upside-down, supine or facing upward". The word "resupinate" is generally only used in a botanical context – in everyday language, "supine" has a similar meaning. Pucciniomycotina
Pucciniomycotina is a subdivision of fungus within the division Basidiomycota. The subdivision contains 10 classes, 21 orders, and 38 families. Over 8400 species of Pucciniomycotina have been described - more than 8% of all described fungi. The subdivision is considered a sister group to Ustilaginomycotina and Agaricomycotina, which may share the basal lineage of Basidiomycota, although this is uncertain due to low support for placement between the three groups. The group was known as Urediniomycetes until 2006, when it was elevated from a class to a subdivision and named after the largest order in the group, Pucciniales.
