Septimus Atterbury
Septimus Atterbury (18 October 1880 – 1964) was an English footballer who made 88 appearances in the Football League for Loughborough, Barnsley, Leicester Fosse and Plymouth Argyle, and 410 in the Southern League for Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle. He was a full back. Life and career He began his football career with Kettering before representing Loughborough, Barnsley, Wellingborough, and Leicester Fosse. He moved to Swindon Town in July 1903, where he made more than one hundred appearances for the club in the Southern League, and then he was signed by Plymouth Argyle in July 1907. He would feature for the club as a player until 1921; making 361 appearances in all competitions and scoring six goals. He played for Leicester Fosse during the First World War as a wartime guest. Atterbury was selected for a Southern League representative side in 1912. He retired as a player in the summer of 1921 to become a coach. Allestree
Allestree is a suburb and Ward (politics), ward of the city of Derby, a Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority area, in Derbyshire, England. It is the northernmost ward and is on the A6 road (Great Britain), A6 road, about north of Derby city centre. It is bordered by the district of Amber Valley along its western and northern edges and Borough of Erewash, Erewash in its north-east corner. To the south it borders the ward of Mackworth, Derby, Mackworth and to the east the ward of Darley Abbey. Allestree village was previously part of the Earl of Northumbria's estate before the Norman Conquest, and was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as part of the Markeaton estate. Football League Second Division
The Football League Second Division was the second level division in the English football league system between 1892 and 1992. Following the foundation of the FA Premier League, the Football League divisions were renumbered and the third tier became known as the Football League Second Division, while the second level was branded "First Division," below the Premiership. After the rebranding of the Football League in 2003–04, the second tier became known as the Championship, and the third tier became known as Football League One. 1911–12 Southern Football League
The 1911–12 Southern Football League season was the 18th in the history of the Southern League. Queens Park Rangers won their second league championship (the first being in 1907–08), but no clubs applied to join the Football League. Luton Town, who finished second bottom of Division One were relegated to Division Two, whilst Leyton, who finished bottom, left the Southern League after 7 seasons of participation to join the South Essex League. Merthyr Town won the Division Two championship and were promoted to Division One together with runners-up Portsmouth, who returned to Division One after one season of absence. Walsall, who also played in the Birmingham & District League, left the Southern League, but continued to play in the Birmingham & District League.
