Sentiero Delle Grigne
The ZacUP Skyrace del Grignone (also known as Sentiero delle Grigne), is an international skyrunning competition held for the first time in 2013. It runs every year along the mountain path of the Grigna (Italy) in September. Previously this race, for eleven editions from 2002 to 2012, was called the Sentiero delle Grigne (43km / 3,200m D +), and was the race of the Skyrunner World Series circuit. ZacUP is the heir, shorter and less demanding, still keeping the spirit of the previous, so much to award the ''Trofeo Scaccabarozzi'' (the full name of the race was in fact the ''Trofeo Scaccabarozzi-Sentiero delle Grigne'') to transit on the Grand Prize of mountain in the summit of the Grigna (2410 m). Grigna
The Grigna is a mountain massif in the province of Lecco, Lombardy, northern Italy, with an elevation of . It is part of the Bergamo Alps, and it has two peaks, Grignone or Grigna settentrionale, the higher, and the lower Grignetta or Grigna meridionale (2,177 m). Geography and climbing routes To the southwest, the Grigna massif descends precipitously toward an arm of Lake Como known as 'Ramo di Lecco' (The Branch of Lecco). To the east, the mountain rises gently through fields and forested land into Valsassina. The northern side of the mountain, which is known for its many caves and crevices, leads to Passo del Cainallo and the town of Esino Lario. The easiest route to the Grignone peak is from the southeast starting at the town of Ballabio in Valsassina. Farther up the valley is Pasturo, another traditional trailhead for the ascent. Simon Booth (runner)
Simon Booth (born 10 May 1968) is an English runner who was twice the British fell running champion and who has represented his country at the World Mountain Running Trophy. As a youngster, Booth’s preferred sports were rugby and football. However, an early indication of his running ability was his performance at the Cumbria Marathon from Cockermouth in 1982 when he was the first junior to finish at the age of fourteen and beat his father Bill Booth. Injuries ended Simon’s focus on rugby and after finishing second in the Borrowdale Fell Race in 1989, his attention turned to fell running. Booth won the British Fell Running Championships in 2002 and 2005. He has performed especially well in the longer races and his wins include Wasdale, the Ennerdale Horseshoe, Great Lakes, Duddon Valley, Sedbergh Hills, the Anniversary Waltz, Buttermere Sailbeck, Langdale, the Three Peaks and Skiddaw.
