Senica District
Senica District (''okres Senica'') is a Districts of Slovakia, district in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. The district is relatively rich in natural resources oil, gas, lignite. It is an industrial district, in the late period had been established here new industrial facilities. Senica District in its present borders had been established in 1996. Administrative, cultural, and economic center is its seat and largest town Senica. In Senica District is located spa Smrdáky and of cultural importance is also basilica in Šaštín. Districts Of Slovakia
An okres (in English district) is an administrative unit in Slovakia. It is a second-tier territorial administrative unit, below a Region in standing, and superior to a municipality. Each district contains at least several municipalities. The cities of Bratislava and Košice are the only cities in Slovakia divided into internal urban districts, with five in Bratislava, and four in Košice. These urban districts are then further divided into smaller boroughs (which serve a function analogous to municipalities in typical districts). All other districts are larger in size and also include rural areas, and rural as well as urban municipalities. Each of these more typical districts has an urban centre serving as the seat of the district, usually the largest town (or the only town) of a given district. Kúty
Kúty, (german: Kutti; hu, Jókút) is a village and municipality in Senica District in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. History The village was first mentioned in 1392 under the name Kuth. And in 1498 as Kwhty. Kút is equal to Corner - a distant place in the bend of rivers or roads or mountains. The oldest archaeological find of historical settlement dates back to the Stone Age (2000 - 1900 BC) and later from the Bronze Age (1500 - 700 BC). Other archaeological finds are from the Iron Age of La Tène (500 - 0 after Christ) and from the pre-fortified and earlier fortified settlements in local parts Čepangát and Sigeca, in the historical confluence of the Morava and Myjava rivers. Jablonica
Jablonica ( hu, Jablánc) is a village and municipality in Senica District in the Trnava Region of western Slovakia. History In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1262. Geography The municipality lies at an altitude of 211 metres and covers an area of 31.44 km². It has a population of about 2,279 people. Points of interest The Jablonica castle is associated with the Apponyi family and specifically its so-called Jablonica line. An old castle was destroyed in an Ottoman raid in 1663 and subsequently rebuilt by the then-owners from the family. A branch of the Apponyis acquired it in 1772 and renovated it extensively in the late 19th century. The Apponyis lost its property in the aftermath of World War I, after which it changed hands several times during the Interwar period.
