''Selviytyjät Suomi'' is a Finnish reality show based on ''Survivor''. It premiered on MTV3 on 21 February 2013. The first season was filmed from May to July 2012 in Malaysia. 16 contestants participated in the competition. The winner of the show received 50,000 euros on the first season and 30,000 euros in the later seasons. The first season is hosted by Heikki Paasonen and onwards second season Juuso Mäkilähde. Winner of the first season was Jarkko Kortesoja. Charlie Parsons
Charles Andrew Parsons is a British television producer known as the creator of the ''Survivor'' franchise. He also created ''The Big Breakfast'' and '' The Word''. Education Parsons was educated at Tonbridge School, a boarding independent school in Tonbridge in Kent in South East England, and credits the tough boarding school regime he endured there in the early 1970s, which at the time was commonplace, as providing an inspiration for his creation of the series ''Survivor''. He then went to Pembroke College at the University of Oxford, where he studied English literature and afterwards trained as a journalist. Life and career The early days of Parsons's career saw him working at London Weekend Television on programmes including Network 7, which won a BAFTA award for originality. ''Selviytyjät Suomi (season 9)'' is the ninth season of the Finnish reality television series ''Selviytyjät Suomi''. The season returns to Langkawi, Malaysia where 18 Finnish celebrities compete in tribes against each other for 37 days to win the grand prize of €30,000 and claim the title of Sole Survivor. Riku Rantala returns to host. The season is slated to premiere on 1 September 2024 on Nelonen. In May of 2024, it was reported that one of the contestants, author Henriikka Rönkkönen was medically evacuated from the island due to serious injury from a heatstroke. The season sees some new twists to the format. Riku Rantala
Riku Rantala (born 20 July 1974) is a Finnish journalist, best known from traveling series Madventures. He has also co-written a book, ''Isänmaan asialla - matkaopas syrjäytettyjen Suomeen'' ( Johnny Kniga, 2004), with Ari Lahdenmäki. In 2007, Rantala, Lahdenmäki and Tuomas "Tunna" Milonoff, the 2nd of Madventures' presenters, published ''Madventures: Kansainvälisen seikkailijan opas'' ( Johnny Kniga, 2007). Sami Helenius
Sami "Helge" Helenius (born January 22, 1974) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey defenceman who played predominantly in the SM-liiga and National Hockey League. He most recently was in a coaching role with Haukat of the Suomi-sarja. Playing career Helenius was drafted by the Calgary Flames as their fifth-round pick, 102nd overall, in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. He started his professional career in Jokerit in the Finnish SM-liiga in 1992, and made his way to North America for the 1994–95 season, and after spending five years mostly in the minor leagues, Helenius took his place as an NHL defenceman, playing for several teams. Helenius became known as "the Fighting Finn," as he was one of the few Europeans to play in an enforcer role in North American hockey leagues. Shirly Karvinen
Shirly Karvinen (born 3 September 1992) is a Finnish model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Finland 2016 and represented her country at Miss Universe 2016. Background Karvinen was born to a Finnish father and a Chinese mother in Finland. Due to her father's work in an asphalt paving company, she spent her early childhood living in Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Saudi Arabia.
