Selja Kumari
Selja Kumari (born 24 September 1962) is an Indian politician and former parliamentarian. A member of the Indian National Congress, she has been the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment and Tourism in the Government of India during Manmohan Singh's premiership. Selja was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1991 from Sirsa, a constituency that she retained in the 1996 elections. Following her election to the 15th Lok Sabha from Ambala, she was appointed the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. It was during this period that Selja worked to furthering the cause of women's rights as well as the rights of marginalised communities in India. Selja unsuccessfully contested the general elections in 2019 from Ambala, and following that made a return to state politics, being elected the president of the Haryana unit of the Congress party later that year. Sirkka Selja
Sirkka Selja (20 March 1920 – 17 August 2017) was a Finnish poet and writer. She was born in Hämeenkoski, Finland. Her real name was Sirkka-Liisa Tulonen. Career Her first book was published in 1942 titled ''Still I Live''. In addition to poems, her production includes a play and two listening works. Selja was awarded with the State Literature Prize of Finland in 1958, the Pro Finlandia in 1970, the Aleksis Kivi Prize in 1987 and the P. Mustapää Prize in 2007. Selja, Selje
Selja is a small island in Stad Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It was the original Catholic bishopric in Norway ( la, Selia; now a titular see) which later became the pre-Reformation Ancient Diocese of Bergen (Bjørgvin). It has been formerly known as ''Sellø'' or ''Selø''. The island is located in the Sildagapet bay, just west of the harbor in the village of Selje. The sparsely populated island has about 5 permanent residents who commute by boat to the mainland since the island is not accessible by road. The painter Bernt Tunold grew up on the island, where his parents had established a farm on the church grounds. Ecclesiastical history The island is mainly known for its connection to Saint Sunniva, who, according to legend, landed and died there in the late 10th century and remains patron saint of the Diocese of Bergen. Selja Gorges
Selja Gorges (from the traditionnal transcription fr. ''Gorges de Selja'') or the Thelja Gorges as more recently transcribed from Arabic (arabic حلق الثالجة) are located in southern Tunisia in Gafsa Governorate. The gorges link the Gafsa Valley with the Redeyef plateau. The area contains abundant phosphate deposits. Ramsar Wetland The Gorges are a several kilometers long natural valley with deep ravines through which the Thelja Wadi runs a very sinuous course towards the Chott El Gharsa. The surroundings are mountainous and arid and form a part of the Djebels of the Saharan Atlas (with an altitude between 210m and 450m). An area of 675 ha is protected as Ramsar wetland, where the wadi's waters are present all year around (albeit with a very small flowrate).
