Shekou () is an area at the southern tip of Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, Guangdong Province, China. Malik Sekou (born January 8, 1964, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) is an academic from the United States Virgin Islands. He is a professor and chairman of the Department of history, social science and political science at the University of the Virgin Islands. Hakeem Sekou Jeffries ( ; born August 4, 1970) is an American politician and attorney who has served as House minority leader and leader of the House Democratic Caucus since 2023. Currently in his seventh term, Jeffries has been the U.S. representative for New York's 8th congressional district since 2013 and served three terms as a member of the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012.
