Sekhar Bandyopadhyay
Sekhar Bandyopadhyay (born 7 July 1952) is an Indian historian and a Fellow of the Royal Society Te Apārangi. Bandyopadhyay is known for his research on the Dalit caste of Bengal. Life Bandyopadhyay was born to Nanigopal Bandyopadhyay, a professor of Bengali and Pratima Bandyopadhyay. Bandyopadhyay earned his B.A. degree in History at Presidency College and an M.A. degree at the University of Calcutta. He was awarded a doctorate at the University of Calcutta. He is married to Srilekha Bandyopadhyay and lives in Wellington with his wife. Career Bandyopadhyay is Emeritus Professor at Victoria University of Wellington and was the founding director of the New Zealand India Research Institute. He has also taught at the Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, University of Kalyani, and the University of Calcutta. Sumit Sarkar
Sumit Sarkar (born 1939) is one of the foremost historians of modern India. He is a Marxist historian. He is the author of ''Swadeshi Movement'' ''in Bengal, 1903-1908'' (1973), ''Modern India'' (1989), and ''Writing Social History'' (1998), among others. He was a founding member of the Subaltern Studies Group as well as one of its most important critics. Early life, education and career He was born to Susobhan Sarkar. Tanika Sarkar is a historian of modern India based at the Jawaharlal Nehru University. Sarkar's work focuses on the intersections of religion, gender, and politics in both colonial and postcolonial South Asia, in particular on women and the Hindu Right.
