Sek Kei
Wong Chi-chung (), known professionally as Sek Kei (), is a Hong Kong film critic. He received the Professional Achievement Award in the 41st Hong Kong Film Awards for his contributions in the film industry. Biography In the 1960s, Sek began submitting film reviews to ' at the age of seventeen. Although his articles were initially rejected, he received a reply letter from the chief editor, , who encouraged him to continue writing film reviews. Since then, he has pursued a career as a film critic, contributing film reviews to various newspapers and magazines for almost sixty years. Sek started his film review column in ''Ming Pao'' in January 1971. He has published a total of eight books, collectively titled ''Collection of Sek Kei film critiques'', which encompass his film reviews up until the 1990s. John Woo
John Woo Yu-Sen SBS (; born September 22, 1946) is a Hong Kong filmmaker, known as a highly-influential figure in the action film genre. He was a pioneer of heroic bloodshed films (a crime action film genre involving Chinese triads) and the gun fu genre in Hong Kong action cinema, before working in Hollywood films. He is known for his highly chaotic "bullet ballet" action sequences, stylized imagery, Mexican standoffs, frequent use of slow motion and allusions to ''wuxia'', film noir and Western cinema. The Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), is one of Asia’s oldest international film festivals. Founded in 1976, the festival features different movies, filmmakers from different countries in Hong Kong. HKIFF screens around 230 films from more than 60 countries in different major cultural venues across the territory every year. New films are featured as gala premieres, with the directors and cast presenting on the red carpet and meet-and-greet sessions in theatres. The Hong Kong Film Archive is a film archive collects, preserves, and screens Hong Kong films and other related materials. The archive was founded in 1993, when its Planning Office was opened by the Urban Council. It joined the International Federation of Film Archives in 1996. The archive has been under the management of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department since 2000. The film archive building in Sai Wan Ho regularly hosts exhibitions, screenings and seminars showcasing Hong Kong film.
