Seigokan
Seigokan (正剛館) is the Goju-Ryu Karate-do organization founded in 1945 by Seigo Tada (1922-1997) Hanshi (8th Dan). With its Hombu Dojo (headquarters) in Himeji, Japan, the ''Seigokan All Japan Karate-do Association'' (SAJKA) — its official name — has branches in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), India, Italy, the Philippines, Portugal, Sri Lanka, the United States, England, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia and Venezuela. Master Seigo Tada was a pupil of Chojun Miyagi and the head of the Karate Club at Ritsumeikan University. In the 1960s, Seigokan was considered the most important Goju-Ryu Association (Kai-Ha) in Japan, with more than 200,000 members. José Santana (karateka)
José Manuel Guerreiro Santana (born May 17, 1957, in Lisbon) is a Portuguese karateka, twice world champion in kumite. Biography José Santana began practicing martial arts at the age of fourteen with Shotokan Karate teacher Luís Cunha at Ginásio Clube Português (GCP), in Lisbon. Invited by a friend, he began training of Goju-ryu Seigokan at the Budo School in Sapadores, created by Mitsuharu Tsuchiya. He immediately joined this traditional style of karatedo, when he watched the performance of Sanchin kata by Katsumune Nagai (4th Dan), 4-time Seigokan Champion in Inter-State Championships in Japan. Seigo Tada
Seigo Tada (多田 正剛, Kyoto, Japan, 1922–1997) (8th Dan) was the founder of Goju-Ryu Seigokan Karatedo. Biography Tada was born on February 18, 1922, in Kyoto, Japan. In 1937 he learned the internal Chinese martial arts (Chinese Kempo) with Ching Lou in Shanghai. He joined the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto and its same Karate Club. There, he studied the essence of Goju-ryu Karate-Do with Chojun Miyagi. In 1943 he was appointed Coach of the Karate Club of the University. After graduation, he established the Nihon Karate-Do Seigokan Doshikai (SAJKA), the Nihon Karate-Do Goju-Ryu and Doshikai Nihon Seigokai in Kyoto. He led about 120 Seigokan Dojos, Associations and Karate-Do Clubs and Karate-Do University's Dojos and beyond, as Chief Instructor and President. The World Karate Federation (WKF) is the largest international governing body of sport karate with 198 member countries. It was formed in 1990, is the only karate organization recognised by the International Olympic Committee and has more than ten million members.
