Seigler Springs
Seigler Springs is a set of springs in Lake County, California around which a resort developed in the 19th century. In the 1930s the resort was expanded, and in 1947 an airport opened nearby. The resort declined in the 1960s. Part of it was separated out and became a residential subdivision, while part became a religious retreat. The 2015 Valley Fire caused great damage. Location The unincorporated community of Seigler Springs is east of Seigler Mountain, south of Clear Lake and northeast of Healdsburg, at an elevation of . The thermal springs are about northwest of Howard Springs. They are on a gentle slope on the south side of Seigler Canyon Creek. The higher slopes are covered in lava, and crushed sediments appear below the springs. Below the springs the creek runs east through Seigler Canyon, which is about long, with its head about east of Seigler Springs and its mouth about west of the village of Lower Lake. Adi Da Samraj, born Franklin Albert Jones (November 3, 1939 – November 27, 2008) was an American-born spiritual teacher, writer and artist. He was the founder of a new religious movement known as Adidam. Adi Da initially became known in the spiritual counterculture of the 1970s for his books and public talks and for the activities of his religious community. Paul Hoberg Airport
The Paul Hoberg Airport, or simply Hobergs Airport is an abandoned airport in Lake County, California, United States. It was opened in 1947 for use by guests of the nearby Hoberg's Resort, and was busy until the 1960s. By 1982 it had been abandoned. Location The Paul Hoberg Airport was just below Seigler Springs Resort, southeast of Hoberg's Resort. It was east of Loch Lomond. The airport is at an elevation of . Hoberg's Resort
Hoberg's Resort was a holiday resort in Lake County, California. The unincorporated community of Hobergs grew up around it. The resort started out in the 1890s as a sideline where a farmer's wife offered meals to travelers, and it then became an economical place for campers and hunters to stay. It expanded, and after the founder's grandsons took over in 1934 it grew into a large and fashionable resort catering to weekend visitors who motored up from the San Francisco Bay Area. There was a swimming pool, dining hall, bar and outdoors dance floor, as well as amenities like hairdressers, a barber, resident physician, coffee shop and general store. Hollywood celebrities, politicians and businessmen stayed at the resort and were entertained by big-name musicians. By the 1960s, the resort had gone into decline, and it closed in 1971. George Hoberg
George Gustave Hoberg (29 January 1904 – 19 July 1970) was a Californian businessman. With his brothers he ran Hoberg's Resort in Lake County, California for many years. Life George Hoberg was born at Hoberg's Resort on 29 January 1904. His grandfather had started the resort in 1885. Hoberg graduated from Cogswell College in San Francisco. In 1927 he married Gertrude Azalea Suhr (1908–1984). In 1934 George and his brothers Paul and Frank took over operation of the resort. Hoberg's became California's largest privately owned resort. Big name bands played there in the 1940s and 1950s, and it was frequented by celebrities. It was capable of serving dinner to 1,000 guests. The Paul Hoberg Airport was dedicated in 1947, southeast of Hoberg's Resort. Frank and George Hoberg both owned four small passenger planes, and both flew guests of Hoberg's resort to and from the resort. Lower Lake, California
Lower Lake (formerly Grantville) is a census-designated place (CDP) in the southern Clear Lake region of Lake County, in northern California. Lower Lake is also an Indian rancheria of the Koi Nation people. Geography Lower Lake is located 4.5 miles (7.2 km) southwest of the City of Clearlake, and southeast of Kelseyville. It is at an elevation of . Lower Lake was at one point the county seat; the Lake County elections of 1867 were hotly contested, with the seat moving between what is now the city of Lakeport and the town of Lower Lake. In 1870, the feud was settled and Lakeport controlled the seat.
