RG Veda
is a manga created by Clamp, consisting of ten volumes in all. It was first published in Japan in 1989 as Clamp's debut manga. The story features elements of Vedic mythology; the title itself is pronounced ''Rigveda'', the name of one of the four Vedas. The series is known for its extravagant and richly detailed art. It inspired a 2-episode anime OVA that was released through 1991 to 1992. The OVAs were licensed by Central Park Media, while Manga Entertainment licensed it in the UK and Australia, with a different English dub. The ''RG Veda'' manga has been translated and released in many different languages. Tokyopop has released English versions in the United States. However, they have since lost the rights, and Dark Horse Comics recently acquired the series, it being published in omnibus form in 2016. Esther Seiden
Esther Seiden ( he, אסתר זיידן; March 9, 1908 – June 3, 2014) was a mathematical statistician known for her research on the design of experiments and combinatorial design theory. In the study of finite geometry, she introduced the concept of the complement of an oval, and her work with Rita Zemach on orthogonal arrays of strength four was described as "the first significant progress" on the subject. Early life and education Seiden was born to a Polish-speaking Jewish middle-class family in West Galicia, and educated at a Zionist gymnasium in Kraków. Against her father's wishes, she went into mathematics. She began her university studies at the University of Kraków but moved after a year to Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, where an uncle was a high school mathematics teacher. Frank Seiden
Frank Seiden (, ) (July 20, 1860 – May 16, 1931), who sometimes went by the stage name Professor Seiden, was a professional magician, Badchen, vaudeville entertainer, barber, and Yiddish-language recording artist of the late 1800s and early 1900s. He recorded almost 200 Wax cylinder and 78-rpm releases for Columbia, Victor, and Berliner. Biography Little is known about Seiden's early life. He was born Efraim Seiden in Galicia, Austria-Hungary on July 20, 1860. His parents were Jacob and Clara (Chaje) Seiden. He emigrated to the United States in 1877. His first decade there is poorly documented, but he married his wife Rachel in November 1883 and became a naturalized citizen in 1886. Joseph Seiden (; 1892–1974) was a pioneering American Yiddish language film producer of the early twentieth century. He released a large number of low-budget, sentimental Yiddish dramas during the 1930s and 1940s. He also directed '' Paradise in Harlem'', a 1940 musical film with an African American cast. His father, Frank Seiden, a Jewish entertainer born in Galicia, Austria-Hungary, was at that time a working magician who ran a bar in the Bowery. Lewis Stanford Seiden (August 1, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois—July 26, 2007 in Chicago, Illinois) was an American pharmacologist and professor at the University of Chicago. Early life and education Seiden was born in Chicago on August 1, 1934, where he grew up in the South Shore neighborhood. After graduating from high school, he received a full scholarship to the University of Chicago, where he had intended to study medicine. However, in 1950, when he was about to graduate from high school, he developed dystonia; he resumed studies at the University of Chicago the following year after recovering. Al Seiden
Alan Seiden (May 1, 1937 – May 3, 2008) was an American collegiate and professional basketball player. He led St. John's University to the 1959 National Invitation Tournament title and later played professionally with the Pittsburgh Rens of the American Basketball League. Seiden was a New York City schoolboy star at Jamaica High School, leading his team to the PSAL title in 1955 as a senior. He chose to stay close to home for college, playing for Hall of Fame coach Joe Lapchick at St. John's University. Seiden became a star at St. John's, leading the Redmen to two straight National Invitation Tournaments in 1958 and 1959.
