Heredad Segura Viudas is a Spanish winery in Torrelavit in the Penedès wine region of Barcelona specializing in Cava. Its origins have been traced back to the 11th century. In 2018 Segura Viudas received the organic farming certification from the Catalan Council of Organic Agricultural Production. Penedès (DO)
Penedès () is a natural and historical region of Catalonia. It is located in the south of the autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain between the pre-coastal mountain range (''Serralada Pre-litoral'') and the Mediterranean Sea. The comarcal division of the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1936 and 1987, divided Penedès into three administrative comarques: Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès and Garraf, and their capitals are Vilafranca del Penedès, el Vendrell and Vilanova i la Geltrú. Cava (, ; , ) is a sparkling wine of ''denominación de origen'' (DO) status from Spain. It may be White wine, white (''blanco'') or rosé (''rosado''). The Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel·lo are the most popular and traditional grape varieties for producing cava. Chardonnay and Malvasia are also permitted. Authorized red grapes are Garnacha tinta, Monastrell, Trepat, and Pinot Noir. Only wines produced in the Sparkling wine production, traditional method may be labelled "cava"; those produced by other processes may only be called "sparkling wines" (''vinos espumosos''). Freixenet () is a Spanish producer of cava and other sparkling and still wines, founded in 1914 in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, in the province of Barcelona. It is the largest producer of traditional method sparkling wine worldwide, and the largest exporter of Cava. It is chaired, as of November 2021, by Alfred Oetker, and completing the Board of Directors are Pedro Ferrer, José María Ferrer, Carl Ferdinand Oetker and Andreas Brokemper.
