''See Clear Now'' is the fifth studio album by English grime artist Wiley. The album was released on 10 November 2008. It was originally set to be released as ''I See Clear'' on 13 October 2008. The album features collaborations with electropop group Hot Chip, and DJ/producer Mark Ronson in "Cash in My Pocket". The album's first single, "Wearing My Rolex" was succeeded by the single "Summertime" on 22 September and " Cash in My Pocket". Richard Kylea Cowie Jr. (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley (formerly Wiley Kat), is a British grime MC, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Bow, London. Wiley is often labelled the " Godfather of Grime". In the early 2000s, he independently released a series of highly influential eskibeat instrumentals on white label vinyl, such as the first in the series "Eskimo" and is known as a grime MC both for his solo work and for material released with his crew Roll Deep. Wiley first tasted success as a member of UK garage crew Pay As U Go, with whom he had a top 40 hit, " Champagne Dance" in 2001. Cash In My Pocket
"Cash in My Pocket" is a 2008 single from British grime artist Wiley, which features guest vocals from Daniel Merriweather and was produced by Mark Ronson. Wiley would later disown ''See Clear Now'' and this song for being too commercial. Wiley blamed his record label Asylum Records and manager John Woolf for making him release the record. Sometime after the song was released, Wiley said he was going on holiday until the song had "done its course" and that once he comes back, nobody should ever say "I love that Cash in My Pocket Tune" to him. Reviews Clickmusic.com gave the song 2 stars out of 5 but gave it some praise by saying "Releasing a song entitled Cash in My Pocket during a full blown credit crunch is timing par excellence" but went on to say that "a bored sounding Merriweather delivers his perfunctory contribution with nothing of the soul that we have come to expect". Daniel Merriweather
Daniel Paul Merriweather (born 17 February 1982) is an Australian R&B singer-songwriter and record producer. Merriweather's debut solo album, '' Love & War'', was released in June 2009. It entered the UK Albums Chart at number two. It was preceded by two singles, "Change" and " Red", which both made the top 10 on the related singles chart. Merriweather has won two ARIA Music Awards, Best Urban Release in 2005 for "She's Got Me" and Best Male Artist in 2009 for ''Love & War''. In addition to his solo career, he has worked as a featured vocalist for other well-known artists. His guest vocals are included on album tracks by Disco Montego, Mark Ronson and Phrase. Tayó Grant Jarrett (born 5 April 1986), better known as Scorcher, is an English grime MC, songwriter and actor from Edmonton, London. He was previously a member of the grime collective The Movement and is signed to Blue Colla Music. Career 2005–08: Early career He began his career in Cold Blooded where he became known for his "shank" bars, and would regularly attend pirate radio and work his way up through the North London grime circuit. Scorcher served a short prison sentence in 2006 for driving offences, and while in jail his mixtape ''Simply the Best'' was released and was greeted with good reviews from the grime scene. Grime (music)
Grime is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It developed out of the earlier UK dance style UK garage, and draws influences from jungle, dancehall, and hip hop. The style is typified by rapid, syncopated breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute, and often features an aggressive or jagged electronic sound. Emceeing is a significant element of the style, and lyrics often revolve around gritty depictions of urban life.
