Security Assistance Group – Ukraine
Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative or USAI is a U.S. Department of Defense-led funding program to increase Ukraine's capacity to defend itself more effectively against Russian aggression through the further training of its Armed Forces, equipment, and advisory initiatives. Overview Included in USAI packages were training, equipment, and advising activities, in order to improve Ukraine's defensive capabilities, such as marine domain awareness, operational safety, and capacity of Ukrainian Air Force facilities, as well as its lethality, command, control, and survivability. To counter Russian cyberattacks and misinformation, USAI also supports cyber defense and strategic communications. The United States officially recognized the independence of Ukraine on December 25, 1991. The United States upgraded its consulate in the capital, Kyiv, to embassy status on January 21, 1992. Antonio Aguto
Antonio Alzona Aguto Jr. (born November 18, 1966) is a retired United States Army lieutenant general who served as the commander of Security Assistance Group–Ukraine (SAGU) from 2022 to 2024. He served as the 40th commanding general of First United States Army from 2021 to 2022. He previously served as the Commanding General of the 3rd Infantry Division and prior to that as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans, and Training of the United States Army Forces Command. Chris Donahue (general)
Christopher Todd Donahue (born 13 August 1969) is a United States Army General (United States), general who has served as the commanding general of United States Army Europe and Africa and commander of Allied Land Command since 10 December 2024. He most recently served as the commanding general of XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg from 2022 to 2024.
