The Secretariat of Security and Civilian Protection ( or SSPC) is a cabinet-level agency of the government of Mexico responsible for supervising public safety and security, including the Commission for the Attention of Intentional Homicide, National Intelligence Centre, Federal Protection Service, National Antikidnapping Coordination, National Disaster Prevention Center, and the former Federal Police and it's under-ministries and units. The agency is known to collaborate with the Attorney General's Office and the Judiciary in the investigation and prosecution of crimes in Mexico. Its secretary is Omar García Harfuch as of 2025 in Claudia Sheinbaum administration. Omar García Harfuch
Omar Hamid García Harfuch (born 25 February 1982) is a Mexican politician, public official, and former police officer. A member of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), he has served as Secretary of Security and Civilian Protection in the cabinet of President Claudia Sheinbaum since 2024. He served as Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City under then-mayor Claudia Sheinbaum from 2019 to 2023. García Harfuch was a candidate for Mayor of Mexico City in the 2024 election.
