Israeli forces launched an incursion into Khan Yunis on 22 July 2024 as part of the ongoing Israel–Hamas war. It marked the return of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to the Khan Yunis area inside the Gaza Strip after Siege of Khan Yunis, a previous battle and siege which lasted from December 2023 to April 2024. Mohammed Sinwar
Mohammed Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar (; born 16 September 1975) is a Palestinian politician. He is also a leader of the Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. He spent several years in Israeli jails in the 1990s and became the leader of Hamas' Khan Younis Brigade in 2005. He has been subject to several assassination attempts by Israel. Early life Mohammed Sinwar was born in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in 1975. Sinwar's family grandparents fled from Al-Majdal Asqalan (Ashkelon) during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. An explosively formed penetrator (EFP), also known as an explosively formed projectile (EFP), a self-forging warhead, or a self-forging fragment, is the product of a shaped charge designed to penetrate armor effectively. July 2024 Khan Yunis Attack
On 22 July 2024, Israel sent tanks and launched airstrikes on eastern Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip. Rocket artillery is artillery that uses rocket (weapon), rocket explosives as the projectile. The use of rocket artillery dates back to medieval China where devices such as fire arrows were used (albeit mostly as a Psychological warfare, psychological weapon).
