Mohammed Sinwar
Mohammed Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar (; born 16 September 1975) is a Palestinian politician. He is also a leader of the Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. He spent several years in Israeli jails in the 1990s and became the leader of Hamas' Khan Younis Brigade in 2005. He has been subject to several assassination attempts by Israel. Early life Mohammed Sinwar was born in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in 1975. Sinwar's family grandparents fled from Al-Majdal Asqalan (Ashkelon) during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. He joined the military movement of Hamas in 1991. Military career In 2005, Sinwar became the commander of Hamas' Khan Younis brigade. He was a participant in the abduction of Gilad Shalit in 2006. Shalit was eventually released in 2011 in exchange for 1,027 Palestinian prisoners, one of whom was his brother Yahya Sinwar. Essam Al-Da'alis
Essam al-Da'alis (, born 30 October 1966), also spelled Daalis or Dalis, is a Palestinian politician and Hamas member who, on 13 June 2021, was appointed as head of the Government Administrative Committee of the Gaza Strip, a position also referred to as "head of Government Follow-up Committee" and often compared to that of Prime Minister or head of government. He was appointed by the Hamas-aligned Palestinian Legislative Council, which was meeting in Gaza. Despite performing, from 2021 up until the beginning of the 2023 Israel–Hamas war, day-to-day work in the Gaza Strip akin to that of a head of government, Da'alis, in contrast with most other Hamas's leaders, has not been the target of Western sanctions. Hamas, the governing authority in the Gaza Strip, has constructed a sophisticated network of military tunnels since it seized control of the Strip in 2007. The tunnel system branches beneath many Gazan towns and cities, such as Khan Yunis, Jabalia and the Shati refugee camp. The internal tunnels, running some dozens of kilometres within the Gaza Strip, have several functions.
