Second World (album)
Second World is the third studio album by Italian gothic doom metal band The Foreshadowing, released on 20 April 2012 by Cyclone Empire Records. Second World combines cinematic atmospheres with doom-metal riffs. The album was mixed by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios (Örebro, Sweden), while well-known artist Travis Smith worked on the album illustrations and design. The recording sessions were held at Outer Sound Studios in Rome with Giuseppe Orlando. Guitarist Alessandro Pace stated: "This is going to be, without any reasonable doubt, absolutely metal. We worked hard to step forward and gain our melodic side, while at the same time, we wrote the most groundbreaking rhythms we ever played. The Foreshadowing is an Italian Gothic doom metal band with ambient influences.https://archive.today/20070503123617/http://www.metalitalia.com/interviews/view.php?interview_pk=934Ritual n°35 pag. 34 History Origin The band was officially formed at the dawn of 2005, but the project was actually started back in 1998, from an idea of Alessandro Pace (aka Alex Vega), who involved his friends Andrea Chiodetti (guitar) and Francesco Sosto (keyboards) with the idea of starting up a new gothic doom metal band in the vein of My Dying Bride, Katatonia and Anathema, revisiting the sound of these bands in a modern key and with a personal style. Soon the trio was forced to put aside the project, as they could not find the right members to fill the band up. Gothic Metal
Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal music, heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in the United Kingdom originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. Lyrics are generally dark and introspective with inspiration from gothic fiction as well as personal experiences. Pioneers of gothic metal include Paradise Lost (band), Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Anathema (band), Anathema, all from the north of England. Doom Metal
Doom metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that typically uses slower tempos, low-tuned guitars and a much "thicker" or "heavier" sound than other heavy metal genres.K. Dan Swanö
Dan-Erland Swanö (born 10 March 1973), also known as Dan "The Man" Swanö, is a Swedish musician and record producer who is currently the vocalist, guitarist, ex-bassist and ex-drummer for the band Nightingale, lately vocalist, keyboardist and drummer for the band Witherscape, as well as the owner of Unisound. He achieved fame as the vocalist and songwriter of progressive death metal band Edge of Sanity. As a multi-instrumentalist he is regarded as influential in the underground melodic death metal, black metal, progressive metal, death metal, progressive rock, and power metal communities. He is known for his progressive rock-influenced songwriting style and his frequent use of both clean and growled vocals.
