Aereogramme were a Scottish alternative rock band from Glasgow, formed in 1998, consisting of Craig B. (vocals, guitar), Iain Cook (guitar, programming), Campbell McNeil (bass) and Martin Scott (drums). Prior to their split in 2007, the band released four studio albums. Biography Formed in April 1998, the band released two 7" singles in 1999 before signing to Chemikal Underground in early 2000, at which point they recorded two EPs before releasing their first full-length, '' A Story in White'', in 2001. '' Sleep and Release'' followed in 2003 but the band moved to Undergroove Records soon after for their third official release, ''Seclusion''. However, the group re-signed to Chemikal Underground in August 2006. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge, shoegaze, and Britpop subgenres in the United States and United Kingdom, respectively. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. The emergence of Generation X as a cultural force in the 1990s also contributed greatly to the rise of alternative rock. ''My Heart Has a Wish That You Would Not Go'' is the fourth and final studio album by Scottish band Aereogramme. The band drew the album name from the 1971 William Peter Blatty novel, '' The Exorcist''. It was released on 5 February 2007 in the UK and Europe by Chemikal Underground, and on 6 February 2007 in North America by Sonic Unyon. The album was preceded by the single "Barriers" on 29 January 2007, which was released on 7" vinyl with the exclusive B-side "Dissolve". Vocalist Craig B. revealed that the delay between ''My Heart Has a Wish'' and the band's previous release, 2004's ''Seclusion'', was partly due to losing his singing voice for six months. Referring to the album's vocals, Craig B. stated in a 2010 interview with '' The Skinny'' that, "By the time we got to ''My Heart Has a Wish'', I just didn't feel like screaming anymore. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. Aaron Turner
Aaron Turner (born November 5, 1977) is an American musician, singer, graphic artist, and founder of label Hydra Head Records. He is most widely known for his role as guitarist and vocalist for the post-metal bands SUMAC and Isis, while also participating in several other bands and projects such as Old Man Gloom, Lotus Eaters and Split Cranium, a collaboration with Jussi Lehtisalo of Finnish band Circle who toured with Isis in 2009. Raised in New Mexico, Turner moved to the Boston area, where he attended art school and formed Isis and Hydra Head. In June 2003, Turner moved operations of both the band and label to Los Angeles, California. Turner now resides in Vashon, WA which is also the base of operations for Hydra Head and his various other activities. ''Clouds Taste Metallic'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band The Flaming Lips, released on September 19, 1995, by Warner Bros. Records. It was the last album to feature guitarist Ronald Jones. The album's recording is heavily featured in the ''Fearless Freaks'' documentary. ''Clouds Taste Metallic'' was projected to be the band's first commercially successful release after the major success of " She Don't Use Jelly" from their previous album '' Transmissions from the Satellite Heart'' (1993), but failed to garner the same commercial success of its predecessor. However, in recent years, it has been regarded by critics and fans as one of the Flaming Lips' best albums, and has achieved cult status. The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips are an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The band currently consists of Wayne Coyne (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Drozd (guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, vocals), Derek Brown (keyboards, guitars, percussion), Matt Duckworth Kirksey (drums, percussion, keyboards) and Nicholas Ley (percussion, drums).
