Sebell
Greg Sczebel (born September 6, 1984), known as SEBELL, is a two-time Juno Award-winning independent singer-songwriter originally from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada. He is a two-time grand prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, a winner in the Billboard Worldwide Song Competition and was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. In 2006, Sczebel was a special guest performer on CMT's "Paul Brandt's Christmas in Banff." In 2008, Sczebel joined Brandt's touring band and has performed with him regularly, playing keyboards and singing backing vocals. Sczebel has performed with Brandt at the 2008 Canada Day Celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, on numerous televised Canadian award shows (CCMA's, Junos), and most recently for Prince William and Kate Middleton during their visit to Canada. Salmon Arm
Salmon Arm is a city in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District of the Southern Interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia that has a population of 19,432 (2021). Salmon Arm was voted the best community in British Columbia in 2019. Salmon Arm was incorporated as a municipal district on May 15, 2005. The city of Salmon Arm separated from the district in 1912, but was downgraded to a village in 1958. The city of Salmon Arm once again reunited with the District Municipality in 1970. Salmon Arm once again became a city in 2005, and is now the location of the head offices of the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District. It is a tourist town in the summer, connected to all 4 arms of Shuswap Lake, with many beaches, numerous golf courses, camping facilities, and house boat rentals. The Juno Awards of 2005 were held 3 April at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba and were hosted by comedian Brent Butt. Avril Lavigne and k-os won three awards each, while Billy Talent and Feist won 2 apiece. Nominations were announced 7 February 2005. The Tragically Hip were this year's Canadian Music Hall of Fame recipient. Dan Aykroyd was originally scheduled to present this honour, but inexplicably cancelled several days before the awards ceremony. Sarah Harmer presented the Hall of Fame award in his place. Both Aykroyd and Harmer have ties to the Kingston, Ontario community in which The Tragically Hip are based. Neil Young was scheduled to appear at these awards, based on a promise that he would attend if the ceremonies were held in Winnipeg.
