Sebastian Leone
Sebastian "Sam" Leone (December 6, 1924 — November 14, 2016) was the borough president of Brooklyn from 1970 to 1976 and a justice of New York Supreme Court from 1977 to 2001. Early life Leone was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1924 to Anthony Leone and the former Josephine Gilistro. When he was an infant, his family moved to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where he grew up. He attended P.S. 97, David Boody Junior High School, and Lafayette High School, all in Brooklyn, and after a stint in the U.S. Army, graduated from St. John's University in Queens in 1946. Political career Leone got his start in politics in 1948, when as a law student he met Frank J. Pino, then a New York State Assemblyman, who had come into the Leone family's grocery store in Bensonhurst. Howard Golden
Howard Golden (born November 6, 1925) is an American lawyer and Democratic politician who served as the Borough President of Brooklyn from January 3, 1977 to December 31, 2001. He concurrently served as chairman of the Brooklyn Democratic Party from January 1984 to October 1990. Personal life Howard Golden was born in Flatbush, Brooklyn on November 6, 1925. His father ran a delicatessen. Golden grew up in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan and Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where he attended public schools. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and New York University before attending Brooklyn Law School on the G.I. Bill, graduating in 1958. Amadeo Henry "Meade" Esposito (1907 – September 3, 1993) was an American politician who was a Brooklyn Democratic leader and political boss. Esposito served as chairman of the Kings County Democratic Committee from 1969 to 1984. Abe Stark
Abe Stark (September 28, 1894 – July 2, 1972) was an American businessman and politician. Born on the Lower East Side in New York City, he became a tailor and owned a clothing store at 1514 Pitkin Avenue in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. Brooklyn Dodgers link Stark's name first became familiar because of the advertising gimmick for his clothing store, a sign placed directly under the Ebbets Field scoreboard in right-center field in 1931, and seen by millions in movie newsreels and then on television. It announced, "Hit Sign, Win Suit. Abe Stark. 1514 Pitkin Ave. Brooklyn's Leading Clothier." Any player who hit the sign on the fly would get a free suit from his store. Irwin R. Brownstein (November 4, 1930 – March 24, 1996) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. Life He was born on November 4, 1930, in New York City. New York Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of the State of New York is the trial-level court of general jurisdiction in the New York State Unified Court System. (Its Appellate Division is also the highest intermediate appellate court.) It is vested with unlimited civil and criminal jurisdiction, although in many counties outside New York City it acts primarily as a court of civil jurisdiction, with most criminal matters handled in County Court.
