Sebastian Chase
Sebastian Chase is an Australian music industry businessman. He is the founding CEO of MGM Distribution from April 1998. Chase began his career as a talent manager, manager in the early 1970s, working for Band of Light, Buffalo (band), Buffalo, Rose Tattoo, Dragon (band), Dragon and the Reels. By 1984 he had established his own label Chase Records. Four years later he formed rooArt with Chris Murphy (band manager), C.M. Murphy and Justin Van Stom, but left that label for Phantom Records in 1991. He established MGM Distribution with his domestic partner, Kylie Greenlees. Greenlees died in 2015, aged 52. At the 2016 ARIA Music Awards Chase received the ARIA Achievement Awards#IconAwards, ARIA Icon Award for his contributions to the Australian music industry. Ian Rilen
Ian William Rilen (12 August 1947 – 30 October 2006) was an Australian musician. He was bass guitarist and songwriter with rock and roll band Rose Tattoo, and led punk rock group X (Australian band), X on guitar and vocals. Rilen was born in Bendigo, Victoria, Bendigo, Victoria, started his musical career in Sydney and later lived in Melbourne. Rilen was a member of 1970s progressive blues group Band of Light and other bands, including Space, Blue Aliens, Blackfeather, Sardine v, Hell to Pay, Skindiver and Illustrated Men. Rilen wrote one of Rose Tattoo's biggest hits, "Bad Boy for Love", and co-wrote "Stuck on You" with his first wife Stephanie Falconer, which was covered by Hunters & Collectors. ''loveBUZZ'' is the debut album released by Australian rock band the Hummingbirds. The album was released on the rooART label in 1989. It peaked at No. 31 on the national album charts. The album eventually reached sales of approximately 40,000 copies (exceeding the 35,000 required for Gold record certification in Australia). In October 2010, ''LoveBUZZ'' was listed in the book ''100 Best Australian Albums''. Reception AllMusic said the band's "specialty was a power-pop/alternative rock style that served them well on ''loveBUZZ''", and noted the album would be enjoyed by "those who like jangly guitar music that's lively and energetic but consistently appealing melodically and harmonically". The Australian Rock Database was a website with a searchable online database that listed details of Australian rock music artists, albums, bands, producers and record labels. It was established in 2000 by Swedish national Magnus Holmgren, who had developed an interest in Australian music when visiting as an exchange student. Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow
"Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" is a novelty nonsensical doo-wop song by the Rivingtons in 1962. It peaked at number 48 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and number 35 on the '' Cashbox'' charts. The band released two similar follow-up songs over the next several months, "Mama-Oom-Mow-Mow (The Bird)" and "The Bird's the Word". "Surfin' Bird" Together with the Rivingtons' 1963 novelty song "The Bird's the Word", "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" was the basis for the song " Surfin' Bird", a number four hit in 1963 by The Trashmen. The combination of the songs, played at a much livelier pace than the original doo-wop songs, was ad-libbed at an early live performance by the band and later released as a single. Initially, the single did not credit the original songwriters, but after the Rivingtons asked for their copyright to be respected, the songwriting credits were amended. St Ives, New South Wales
St Ives is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia 18 kilometres north of the Sydney Central Business District in the local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. St Ives Chase is a separate adjacent area, designated suburb, to the west and north. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top 40 Singles from 1966, and albums chart from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. The Delltones
The Delltones were an Australian rock 'n' roll band, which formed in 1958. They started as a doo-wop, harmony quartet with Warren Lucas (tenor vocals), Brian Perkins (baritone vocals), Noel Widerberg (lead vocals) and Ian "Peewee" Wilson (bass vocals). In July 1962 Noel Widerberg died in a car accident in Brighton-le-Sands in Sydney, and three weeks later the group's single, "Get a Little Dirt on Your Hands", reached the top five on the local charts. Widerberg's position was filled by Col Loughnan (ex- The Crescents). The group disbanded in 1973. Wilson, as the sole founding mainstay, reformed the group with new members in 1978 as a five – piece band. Along with stylistic changes, it led to their resurgence and a top 20 compilation album, ''Bop Til Ya Drop'' (1983).
