Seattle Center Armory
The Seattle Center Armory is a building in Seattle Center, in the U.S. state of Washington (state), Washington. The building has housed the Center House Theater, The Center High School, and the Seattle Children's Museum. History The Washington National Guard built the Seattle Field Artillery Armory in 1939, to be used by the 146th Field Artillery Regiment, 146th Field Artillery, the 65th Field Artillery Brigade (United States), 66th Field Artillery Brigade, and the Washington Headquarters of the 41st Division of the National Guard. The building became known as the Food Circus, and later Seattle Center House. It was remodeled in 2012. The building houses a food court which has included restaurants such as Bean Sprouts Cafe and Cooking School, Bigfoot BBQ, Cool Guys Fry Bar, Eltana, MOD Pizza, Skillet (restaurant), Skillet, and Subway (restaurant), Subway. Seattle Center is an arts, educational, tourism and entertainment center in Seattle, Washington, United States. Spanning an area of 74 acres (30 ha), it was originally built for the 1962 World's Fair. Its landmark feature is the tall Space Needle, which at the time of its completion was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. Seattle Children's Museum
The Seattle Children's Museum in Seattle is located on the lowest floor of the Armory at the Seattle Center. Founded in 1979 with a single exhibit, the museum currently features 18,000 sq feet of play space with 11 exhibits designed for kids 6 months to 8 years. Visitors to the main floor of the Center House can look down into a large open space in the floor which is part of the museum; this was once the site of the bubbleator. Washington National Guard
The Washington National Guard is one of the four elements of the State of Washington's Washington Military Department and a component of the National Guard of the United States. It is headquartered at Camp Murray, Washington and is defined by its state and federal mission. At the call of the Governor, the Washington National Guard will mobilize and deploy during times of state emergency to augment local jurisdictions and responders in their efforts to protect lives and property.
