Sandra Fowler Sandra Fowler is the mother of Biff Fowler ( Stuart Wade). She was played by Kate Layden. She was very disapproving of Biff's life in Emmerdale and tried to get him to come home with her when he was lodging with Seth Armstrong (Stan Richards) and Betty Eagleton ( Paula Tilbrook). Billy Hopwood
William "Billy" Hopwood is a fictional character from the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by David Crellin. The character made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 3 July 1997. He was introduced as one of several new characters producers created for the show in 1997. He is the father of Andy Sugden ( Kelvin Fletcher), and his main storyline results in him murdering Vic Windsor ( Alun Lewis). Crellin made a guest appearance as Billy during a 2003 storyline. Rachel Hughes is a fictional character from the British television soap opera ''Emmerdale'', portrayed by Glenda McKay. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 7 September 1988 and departed following the character's death on 12 May 1999. Richard Thorp
Richard Stanley Thorp (2 January 1932 – 22 May 2013) was an English actor. He was best known for his 30-year tenure portraying Alan Turner in the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' from 1982 to 2013. He also appeared in films such as '' The Dam Busters'' (1955) and ''The Barretts of Wimpole Street'' (1957). Early life Thorp was born in Purley, London. Whilst showing early ambitions to act he started working in the shoe business, Lilley & Skinner, where his father was one of several directors. There he began writing advertising copy including the line "Men's shoes that men choose" whilst continuing to pursue amateur dramatics. However, it was his frequent bad time keeping that caused him to be sacked by his father enabling him to pursue his ambition and train at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Alan Turner (Emmerdale)
Alan Turner is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Richard Thorp. He debuted on-screen on 23 March 1982. Thorp died on 22 May 2013 and the last scenes that Thorp filmed as Alan were aired on 4 June 2013 in a special hour-long episode dedicated to him. It was announced on 12 September 2013 that Alan would be killed off-screen in late October with his daughter Steph (Lorraine Chase) returning for his funeral.
