Seal River (Ontario)
The Seal River is a river in northern Cochrane District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the James Bay drainage basin, and is a right tributary of the Kesagami River. The river begins at an unnamed lake, flows north through Seal Lake, then continues north and reaches its mouth at the Kesagami River, just downstream of the mouth of the Little Seal River. The Kesagami River flows via the Harricana River to James Bay. Northeastern Ontario
Northeastern Ontario is a secondary region of Northern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario, which lies north of Lake Huron and east of Lake Superior. Northeastern Ontario consists of the districts of Algoma, Sudbury, Cochrane, Timiskaming, Nipissing and Manitoulin. Cochrane District
Cochrane District is a district and census division in Northeastern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1921 from parts of Timiskaming and Thunder Bay districts. Kesagami River
The Kesagami River is a river in northern Cochrane District in Northeastern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the James Bay drainage basin, and is a Bank (geography), left tributary of the Harricana River. The lower two-thirds of the river, from about Kesagami Lake and downstream for to its mouth, are part of Kesagami Provincial Park. Geography The river begins at an unnamed lake in the Abitibi Uplands just west of Ontario Highway 652 and flows north to the large Kesagami Lake. It exits the lake at the northeast, continues north and descends rapidly to the James Bay Lowlands, where it takes in several tributaries before reaching its mouth at the Harricana River, just upstream of that river's mouth at James Bay. James Bay
James Bay (, ; ) is a large body of water located on the southern end of Hudson Bay in Canada. It borders the provinces of Quebec and Ontario, and is politically part of Nunavut. Its largest island is Akimiski Island. Numerous waterways of the James Bay watershed have been modified with dams or diversion for several major hydroelectricity, hydroelectric projects. These waterways are also destinations for river-based recreation. Harricana River
The Harricana River (, ) (also known as Harricanaw River) is a river in western Quebec and northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is long, has a drainage area of , and has a mean discharge of . While 80% of its drainage area is in Quebec, the river flows for a short distance through Ontario before it ends in Hannah Bay off James Bay. Because of its undeveloped nature, easy upstream access, and the possibility to paddle to and take out at Moosonee, the Harricana River is popular for canoeing trips to James Bay.
