Girl Guides (known as Girl Scouts in the United States and some other countries) is a worldwide movement, originally and largely still designed for girls and women only. The Kuwait Girl Guides Association () (KGGA) is the national Guiding organization of Kuwait. The association has 9,715 members (as of 2003). Founded in 1957, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in 1966. Program and ideals Girls are organised into groups by age, as in other Guiding and Scouting organisations. Brownies are between age 7 and 11. Girl Guides are between age 12 and 16. The Kuwait Boy Scouts Association (''KBSA'', ) is the national Scouting organization of Kuwait. Scouting in Kuwait started in 1935, the KBSA was founded in 1952 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1955. It has 6,061 members (as of 2008). In 1981, Hassan Al-Ali was awarded the ''Bronze Wolf'', the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, awarded by the World Scout Committee for exceptional services to world Scouting. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants.
