Scottish State Coach
The Scottish State Coach is an enclosed, four-horse-drawn carriage used by the British royal family. This state coach was built by Hooper (coachbuilder), Adams & Hooper in 1830 for Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge to attend the coronation of William IV, and it was used for many years by the duke's family until it was sold to William Keppel, 7th Earl of Albemarle, who converted it into a semi-Landau (carriage)#Royal use in Britain, State landau. In 1920, the Keppel family returned the coach to the Royal Family by presenting it as a gift to Mary of Teck, Queen Mary, who kept it in the mews at Windsor Castle. Between 1968 and 1969, the coach was extensively remodelled and restored to its original enclosed state. Trooping the Colour is a ceremonial event performed every year on Horse Guards Parade in London, United Kingdom, by regiments of Household Division, to celebrate the official birthday of the British sovereign, though the event is not necessarily held on that day.
