Scorers is a cricket ground in Shirley, West Midlands, Shirley, Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, Solihull that is the home of Moseley Cricket Club, who played their first recorded match on the ground in 1956. Scorers has hosted Warwickshire County Cricket Club Second XI matches since 1972. A game apiece in the 1979 ICC Trophy, 1979, 1982 ICC Trophy, 1982 and 1986 ICC Trophy, 1986 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier, ICC Trophy tournaments were held at the ground. Shirley is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, in the West Midlands, England. Historically a rural settlement within the county of Warwickshire, it is now contiguous with nearby Solihull and Birmingham. History The earliest known settlement in the Shirley area was at Berry Mound Camp at what is now Solihull Lodge, in the west of Shirley. This was the site of an Iron Age Hill Fort, which may have been the scene of a battle between the forces of King Alfred and besieged Danes (and with archaeological evidence which would indicate defense of the site during this period). The site at Berry Mound Camp is a rare example of a univallate hillfort with evidence of a timber revetments and a re-cut V-shaped ditch which demonstrates the importance of this hillfort as a defensive site. The Warwickshire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Warwickshire. They play their home games at Edgbaston Foundation Sports Ground, Birmingham, and are captained by Marie Kelly. In 2019, they won the Women's Twenty20 Cup. Solihull ( ) is a market town and the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, in the West Midlands (county), West Midlands, England. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field, at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails (small sticks) balanced on three stumps. Two players from the batting team, the striker and nonstriker, stand in front of either wicket holding bats, while one player from the fielding team, the bowler, bowls the ball toward the striker's wicket from the opposite end of the pitch. The 2023 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy was the fourth edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, an English women's cricket 50-over domestic competition, which took place between 22 April and 24 September 2023. It featured eight teams playing in a double round-robin group stage, followed by a knock-out round. It ran alongside the Charlotte Edwards Cup. Northern Diamonds were the defending champions. Southern Vipers won the tournament, their third Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy title, beating The Blaze in the final. Women's One Day International
Women's One Day International (ODI) is the limited overs form of women's cricket. Matches are scheduled for 50 overs, equivalent to the men's game. The first women's ODIs were played in 1973, as part of the first Women's World Cup which was held in England. The first ODI would have been between New Zealand and Jamaica on 20 June 1973, but was abandoned without a ball being bowled, due to rain. Therefore, the first women's ODIs to take place were three matches played three days later. The 1,000th women's ODI took place between South Africa and New Zealand on 13 October 2016. Women's ODI status is determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and was restricted to full members of the ICC. In May 2022, the ICC awarded ODI status to five more teams. Women's Twenty20 international (WT20I) is the shortest form of women's international cricket. A women's Twenty20 international is a 20 overs-per-side cricket match between two of the International Cricket Council (ICC) members. The very first Twenty20 International match was played on 5 August 2004 between England and New Zealand at Hove, six months before the first Twenty20 International match was played between two men's teams. The 2010 Women's Twenty20 Cup was the 2nd cricket Women's Twenty20 Cup tournament. It took place in August and September, with 33 teams taking part: 32 county teams and Wales. Berkshire Women won the Twenty20 Cup, beating Kent Women in the final, achieving their first T20 title. The tournament ran alongside the 50-over 2010 Women's County Championship.
