Scone Thistle Football Club are a Scottish junior football club based in Scone, Perth and Kinross. Their home ground is Farquharson Park and club colours are black and red. History The club was founded in 1882 making it the third oldest football club in Perthshire and oldest Perthshire Junior football club. They played in the Perthshire Junior leagues up until the outbreak of World War II. In the early 1960s the ''Jags'' became members of the Perthshire Juvenile Football Association (Juvenile football in Scotland was football played by adult players up to the age of 27). The club were to remain in Juvenile football until 1983 as following the successful winning of the Scottish Juvenile Cup that year the club returned to the ranks of Junior football. Scone, Scotland
Scone (; gd, Sgàin; sco, Scuin) is a town in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The medieval town of Scone, which grew up around the monastery and royal residence, was abandoned in the early 19th century when the residents were removed and a new palace was built on the site by the Earl of Mansfield. Hence the modern village of Scone, and the medieval village of Old Scone, can often be distinguished. Both sites lie in the historical province of Gowrie, as well as the old county of Perthshire. Old Scone was the historic capital of the Kingdom of Scotland. In the Middle Ages it was an important royal centre, used as a royal residence and as the coronation site of the kingdom's monarchs. Around the royal site grew the town of Perth and the Abbey of Scone. The Scottish Junior Football East Region Premier League, was the second-highest division of the East Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association between 2006 and 2018. History From the 2006–07 season the East Super League was the highest tier, with the Premier League feeding down into South, Central and North divisions, replacing (but largely based upon) the old East (Lothians), Fife and Tayside leagues respectively. A sports coach is a person coaching in sport, involved in the direction, instruction and training of a sports team or athlete. The Scottish Junior Football East Region Central Division was a third-tier division of the East Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association. The league came into existence under the 'Central' name for the 2006–07 season, although a 'Fife District league' had been in place below the East Super League since 2002–03, using the structure of a common 'East Region' top tier and lower regional divisions in place of the old structure of three separate regional leagues in that part of Scotland, with the Fife Junior Football League the historic local competition. Scottish Junior Football Association, East Region
The Scottish Junior Football Association, East Region is one of two regions of the SJFA, which currently organises the Midlands Football League, Midlands League and local cup competitions. The SJFA was previously split into six regions, but in 2002 the decision was taken to reform into three to try to ensure more games between the top clubs and hence increase their revenues; at that time the East Region was created by amalgamating the former East Junior Football League, East (Lothians), Fife Junior Football League, Fife and Tayside Junior Football League, Tayside Regions.
