Scleropages Inscriptus
The Batik Arowana (''Scleropages inscriptus''), is a large, bony-tongued fish native to Myanmar. The species is found in the Tanintharyi River basin on the Indian Ocean coast of peninsular Myanmar. This species is differentiated from other members of Scleropages by the wavy pattern present on the scales and head of the fish similar to Batik textiles. Past records indicate that the fish was a fairly commonly consumed fish in the region. However it is claimed to be extinct in the wild due to overharvesting for the aquarium trade. Tenasserim River
The Great Tenasserim River or the Tanintharyi River is a major river of southeastern Burma. It flows through the Tanintharyi Region, past the town of Tanintharyi, and enters the sea at Myeik ( Mergui). The river rises from the Tenasserim Range at an altitude of , and flows into the Andaman Sea. The region formed by this river is also known as Tenasserim, or Tanintharyi in Burmese. Batik
Batik is an National costume of Indonesia, Indonesian technique of Resist dyeing, wax-resist dyeing applied to the whole cloth. This technique originated from the island of Java, Indonesia. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a ''canting'', or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a ''cap''. The applied wax resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to colour selectively by soaking the cloth in one colour, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colours are desired. Batik is an ancient art form of Indonesia made with wax resistant dye on fabrics.
