Contern
Contern ( ) is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City. As of 2024 the commune has a population of 4,513 whereas the town itself, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of 1,876. The main towns are Contern, Moutfort and Oetrange and there are two small villages, Medingen and Milbech. Additionally the commune contains the lieux-dits of Bricherhaff, Brichermillen, Kréintgeshaff, Kackerterhaff (which means "cockerel farm" in Luxembourgish), Éitermillen, Marxeknupp and Pleitrange. The commune also contains the industrial zones of Chaux de Contern, and Rosswenkel, as well as the activity zone of Weiergewan. The town dates back to around the 9th century and was initially economically focused on farming. Munsbach Castle
Munsbach Castle (Luxembourgish: ''Schlass Mënsbech''; ; German: ''Schloss Münsbach'') is located to the west of Munsbach, in the Schuttrange commune, east of Luxembourg city. Built in 1775 in the Baroque style, the main building was originally used as a manor for a long time, before it was transformed into a castle at the end of the 19th century, with the addition of two towers and a number of independent buildings. The castle is situated in the midst of a park with a rose garden that is permanently open to the public free of charge, and which hosts an annual Rose Fest in September. The garden preserves a collection of more than 600 rose varieties with a rich history of Luxembourgish heritage, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, when Luxembourg was once the largest exporter of roses in the world. Sandweiler (; ) is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City. As of 2024, the town of Sandweiler, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of 3721. Other settlements within the commune include Findel and Birelerhaff.
