Oliver Schreiner
Oliver Deneys Schreiner MC KC (29 December 1890 – 27 July 1980), was a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of South Africa. One of the most renowned South African judges, he was passed over twice for the position of Chief Justice of South Africa for political reasons. He was later described as "the greatest Chief Justice South Africa never had". Early life Schreiner was born in Cape Town in 1890, the son of William Philip Schreiner, the Prime Minister of the Cape Colony during the Boer War, and his wife, Frances, a sister of President F. W. Schreiner University is a Private university, private Presbyterian Church (USA), Presbyterian university in Kerrville, Texas. The university enrolls an estimated 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students. It offers over 40 four-year undergraduate programs, an MBA and a master of education. Schreiner Airways was a charter, passenger and cargo airline based in the Netherlands. History Schreiner was an offshore helicopter operator which was founded in 1945. The various flight operations were split amongst several companies of the Schreiner Aviation Group, such as Schreiner Airways, Schreiner North Sea Helicopters and Schreiner Aviation Training. Schreiner's, also known as Charles Schreiner & Company, was a department store located in downtown Kerrville, Texas, operated by Fort Worth-based Dunlaps. History In 1858, Charles Schreiner, Sr., a French immigrant and former Texas Ranger, purchased a small general store at Camp Verde, which was a military post 15 miles south of Kerrville. Schreiner contracted with the government to supply the soldiers with beef and other supplies. After fighting in the Civil War, he moved to Kerrville, where he and an associate opened a store in 1869 (parts of the original wooden store still exist behind the current stone building). He bought out his partner in 1879, and expanded his business to include banking, ranching, and marketing wool and mohair. Schreiner's was the first business in America to value mohair. Scott Shriner
Scott Gardner Shriner (born July 11, 1965) is an American musician best known as a member of the rock band Weezer, with whom he has recorded twelve studio albums. Joining the band in 2001, Shriner is the band's longest serving bass guitarist. Prior to his musical career, Shriner was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. At the age of twenty-five, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a career in music, attending the Musicians Institute. Shriner subsequently performed with multiple independent acts, and toured as a member of Vanilla Ice's backing band, in support of the rapper's nu metal album '' Hard to Swallow.'' In 2001, Shriner joined Weezer on a provisional basis, following the sudden departure of bass guitarist Mikey Welsh, who had left the band for personal reasons. Kin Herbert Shriner (born December 6, 1953) is an American actor, best known for his portrayal of Scott Baldwin on the ABC soap opera ''General Hospital'' and its spin-off, ''Port Charles''. Herbert Arthur "Herb" Shriner (May 29, 1918 – April 23, 1970) was an American humorist, radio personality, actor, and television host. Shriner was known for his homespun monologues, usually about his home state of Indiana. He was frequently compared to humorist Will Rogers. Early life Shriner was born Herbert Arthur Schriner in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Edith (née Rockwell) and Peter Schriner. He moved to Fort Wayne as a small child, when his mother left his father. Shriner learned to play the harmonica as a grade school student. He formed a quintet when he was in high school; it expanded to an octet and made frequent local appearances. Earl Kenneth Shriner (born 1950) is an American criminal who in 1990 was convicted of attempted first degree murder, first degree rape and first degree assault of seven-year-old Ryan Alan Hade and sentenced to 131 years' imprisonment. Sweeney Schriner
David "Sweeney" Schriner (November 30, 1911 – July 4, 1990) was a Russian-born Canadian professional ice hockey forward who played 11 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Americans and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1934–35 and was the NHL scoring leader in 1935–36 and 1936–37. Schriner was named to honorary all-star teams in numerous leagues throughout his career and played with the NHL All-Stars in the Howie Morenz Memorial Game in 1937.
