Schoolboy Cleve
Schoolboy Cleve (June 10, 1928 – February 5, 2008), born Cleveland White, was an American blues harmonica player, who worked with Lightnin' Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters, and Buddy Guy George "Buddy" Guy (born July 30, 1936) is an American blues guitarist and singer. He is an exponent of Chicago blues who has influenced generations of guitarists including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaug .... He recorded with Lightnin' Slim in the mid-1950s, and under his own stage name for J. D. "Jay" Miller, Feature and then Ace Records (United States), Ace Records in 1957. In 1960, he moved to Los Angeles, California and retired from performing for some years. He resumed again in the 1970s. Cleve was born in East Baton Rouge Parish in Louisiana, United States, and died in Daly City, California, Daly City, California, at the age of 82. The harmonica, also known as a French harp or mouth organ, is a free reed wind instrument used worldwide in many musical genres, notably in blues, American folk music, classical music, jazz, country, and rock. The many types of harmonica include diatonic, chromatic, tremolo, octave, orchestral, and bass versions. Ace Records (United States)
Ace Records was a record label that was started in August 1955 in Jackson, Mississippi by Johnny Vincent, with Teem Records as its budget subsidiary. History Ace also had the Vin label. Its records were distributed independently until 1962 when a distribution arrangement was set up with Vee-Jay Records. Ace Records stopped when Vee-Jay ran out of funds and went out of business. The label was relaunched in 1971 and sold in 1997 to the Demon Music Group in the UK.
