Schola Cantorum (Italian Vocal Group)
Schola Cantorum was an Italian vocal group, active between 1974 and 1995. Career The group was formed in 1974 by record label RCA Italiana with the double aim of launching some promising performers and exploiting songs they held the rights by producing new, rearranged cover versions of them. After taking part to the RAI musical variety ''Senza Rete'', they got their first hit in 1975, with the song "Le tre campane", a cover version of "Les trois cloches" which peaked 7th on the Italian hit parade. RCA Italiana was an Italian record company founded in 1949 and active until 1987, the date on which, together with the parent company RCA Records, it was bought by BMG Entertainment. History Founded in Rome in 1949 under the Vatican's protection and with its historic location which housed the recording studios on Via Tiburtina, the record company closed around 1990 and was absorbed with its parent company by the Bertelsmann Music Group. Sergio Rendine
Sergio Rendine (7 September 1954 – 21 April 2023) was an Italian composer of operas, ballets, symphonies, cantatas and chamber music. He worked as a lecturer at the Conservatorio Alfredo Casella, for the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and for SIAE. He was artistic director of the Teatro Marrucino in Chieti from 1997 to 2007. He received awards for ''Alice'', a "radiophonic opera". His opera ''Un segreto d'importanza'' was premiered by the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. His ''Missa de beatificatione in onore di Padre Pio da Pietrelcina'', a mass written for the beatification of Pio of Pietrelcina, was premiered in 1999 in Vatican City, with José Carreras as a soloist. Paolo Dossena (born 29 January 1942) is an Italian record producer, lyricist, arranger and composer. Life and career Born in Parma, Dossena moved to Rome in the early 1960s and started collaborating with RCA Records, soon specializing in producing French artists such as Charles Aznavour, Dalida, Sylvie Vartan and Alain Barrière, often also translating the original lyrics of their songs for their Italian cover versions.Riccardo Giagni. Marco Luberti (born 13 February 1941) is an Italian lyricist, record producer and singer-songwriter. Life and career Born in Rome, after graduating from the liceo artistico Luberti started studying piano and performing as a keyboardist in a number of beat groups. In the late 1960s he started a fruitful collaboration with Riccardo Cocciante, first co-writing songs for other artists, and in the 1970s, when Cocciante started his solo career, serving as his lyricist and producer. Aldo Donati (2 September 1947 – 24 August 2014) was an Italian singer, composer and television personality. Born in Rome, he started his career at very young age as a member of the blues-rock group "Gli Arciduchi". In 1974 he was one of the co-founder and a stable member of the vocal group Schola Cantorum, that had a consistent success for the whole decade. As a solo singer, his main hits are the songs "Canterò canterò canterò", which ranked fourth at the 1980 Sanremo Music Festival, and "Cantando", which entered the competition at the 1982 Festivalbar. Donati was also very active as a composer, signing among others several songs for Mina.
