Schoemanskloof
Schoemans Kloof Pass, or simply Schoemanskloof, is situated in Mpumalanga province, on the R539 road between the junction with the R36 at Bambi (23 kilometres north of Machadodorp) and the junction with the N4 about 16 kilometres north of Ngodwana (South Africa). This scenic region is the access route that connects Gauteng to the warm Lowveld and Kruger National Park. The N4 highway is the pulse of this area as it runs along the Crocodile River. The agriculture in the area is dominated by citrus farming. Eco Tourism and hospitality in the Schoemanskloof is popular with travellers en route to the Kruger National Park with the first Mountain Links Golf Course set on the picturesque mountain range. R539 Road (South Africa)
The R539 is a Regional Route in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It connects the R36 between eNtokozweni (Machadodorp) and Mashishing (Lydenburg) with the R37 between Sabie and Nelspruit. Route Its western origin is a junction with the R36 at Bambi, approximately 26 kilometres north-east of eNtokozweni (Machadodorp). It runs east for 45 kilometres, through De Beersnek Pass, Patattanek, and Schoemanskloof pass to join the N4 (Maputo Corridor) approximately 16 kilometres north of Ngodwana. The R539 joins the N4 to be cosigned for 4 kilometres through the Montrose pass, crossing the Crocodile River. It leaves the N4 on the eastern side of the pass, heading north-north-east to end at a junction with the R37 at Rosehaugh, approximately 30 kilometres south of Sabie Sabie is a forestry town situated on the banks of the Sabie River in Mpumalanga, South Africa. N4 (South Africa)
The N4 is a national route in South Africa that runs from Skilpadshek on the Botswana border, past Rustenburg, Pretoria, eMalahleni and Mbombela, to Komatipoort on the Mozambique border. The entire route is a toll road. The N4 west of Pretoria, named the Platinum Highway, forms the South African section of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, which runs from Walvis Bay to Pretoria, while the N4 east of Pretoria forms the Maputo Corridor, which runs from Pretoria to Maputo. Together, they link the east and west coasts of Southern Africa. The eastern section from Pretoria to Middelburg is a four-lane dual-carriageway tolled freeway opened in 1968, with toll gates at Donkerhoek and just west of Middelburg. Machadodorp
Machadodorp, also known by its official name eNtokozweni, is a small town situated on the N4 national highway, near the edge of the escarpment in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The Elands River runs through the town. There is a natural radioactive spring here that is reputed to have powerful healing qualities. History The town grew around a station originally named Geluk, after the sheep farm it was built on, but in 1894 the name was changed to honour the Portuguese Major Joachim Machado, an engineer who had surveyed the land for the proposed Nelspruit-Delagoa Bay railway line through the Crocodile River gorge. The settlement became a capital for a few months from 5 June 1900, but was only declared a municipal town in 1904. Nelspruit
Mbombela, formerly Nelspruit, is a city in northeastern South Africa. It is the capital of the Mpumalanga province. Located on the Crocodile River, the city lies about by road west of the Mozambique border, east of Johannesburg and north of the Eswatini border. Mbombela was one of the host cities of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. History San rock art and Iron Age archaeological evidence indicate the area has a long history of human habitation. Mpumalanga () is one of the nine provinces of South Africa. The name means "East", or literally "The Place Where the Sun Rises" in the Nguni languages. R36 (South Africa)
The R36 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects the N1 at Bandelierkop with Ermelo, via Tzaneen and Lydenburg. It is co-signed with the N4 for 8 kilometres between Machadodorp and Patattanek, with a tollgate on this section. It used to extend further south past Ermelo to Amersfoort, but that section is now designated as part of the N11. Route Limpopo The R36 begins at a junction with the N1 national route in Bandelierkop (just north of the N1's Capricorn Toll Plaza), 70 kilometres north of Polokwane and 35 kilometres south of Louis Trichardt. Groot Trek
The Great Trek (, ) was a northward migration of Dutch-speaking settlers who travelled by wagon trains from the Cape Colony into the interior of modern South Africa from 1836 onwards, seeking to live beyond the Cape's British colonial administration. The Great Trek resulted from the culmination of tensions between rural descendants of the Cape's original European settlers, known collectively as Boers, and the British. It was also reflective of an increasingly common trend among individual Boer communities to pursue an isolationist and semi-nomadic lifestyle away from the developing administrative complexities in Cape Town.
