Julius Alwin Franz Georg Andreas Ritter von Schlosser (23 September 1866, Vienna – 1 December 1938, Vienna) was an Austrian art historian and an important member of the Vienna School of Art History. According to Ernst Gombrich, he was "One of the most distinguished personalities of art history". Herbert Samuel Schlosser (April 21, 1926August 6, 2021) was an American television executive. He was president of NBC from 1974 until 1978. He also briefly served as its CEO from 1977 to 1978. Early life Schlosser was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on April 21, 1926. His father, Abraham, ran his own furniture store; his mother, Anna (Olesker), was a housewife. He graduated from Atlantic City High School. He served in the US Navy and was stationed in the contiguous United States. He then studied public and international affairs at Princeton University. After graduating in 1949, he went to Yale Law School and obtained a Juris Doctor in 1951. He is known for his books '' Fast Food Nation'' (2001), '' Reefer Madness'' (2003), and '' Command and Control: Nuclear Weapons, the Damascus Accident, and the Illusion of Safety'' (2013). Biography Schlosser was born in New York City, New York; he spent his childhood there and in Los Angeles, California. Imre Schlosser (also known as Imre Lakatos; 11 October 1889 – 18 July 1959) was a Hungarian footballer of Danube Swabian ancestry who played as a forward. He still holds the record as the highest goalscorer in the history of the Hungarian National Championship. He was also the first player from outside the British Isles to break the record of most association football international caps. Club career The son of János Schlosser and Mária Kettner, he had two elder brothers, János and József, who were both members of Ferencvárosi TC. Friedrich Christoph Schlosser (17 November 1776 – 23 September 1861) was a German historian, Professor of History at the University of Heidelberg and a Privy Councillor in Prussia. Early years He was born at Jever in the District of Friesland. He studied theology, mainly at Göttingen, and then tutored privately. Fort Schlosser
Fort Schlosser was a fortification built in Western New York in the United States around 1760 by British colonial forces, in order to guard the upper entrance to the portage around Niagara Falls, north of Porter-Barton Dock or Schlosser's Landing along the shoreline with the Niagara River. The fort was named for its first commander, Captain Joseph Schlosser of the Royal American Regiment of Foot, a practice that was common in the British Army. Facilities The fort consisted of a wood stockade with several structures within: * Two storehouses * Living quarters for officers and soldiers Four cannons provided protection for the fort. Replacement The fort replaced Fort Petite Niagara or Fort du Portage, a small fortification built by the French (Daniel-Marie Chabert de Joncaire) which was burned by the retreating French prior to the Siege of Fort Niagara in 1759. Merle Schlosser (born October 17, 1926) is an American former college football player and coach. He played football at the end position for the University of Illinois from 1948 to 1949. After graduating from Illinois, Schlosser was an assistant football coach under Don Faurot at the University of Missouri. In January 1957, he was hired as the head football coach at Western Michigan University. He held that position for seven years from 1957 to 1963. He compiled a record of 28–33–3 as the head coach at Western Michigan. In 1963, his team compiled a record of 2–7 and was outscored 201 to 111. On December 27, 1963, Western Michigan's president, James W. Miller, announced that Schlosser had been fired as football coach and would be assigned to other duties in the physical education department.
