Stagecoach (band)
Stagecoach was a British five piece alternative rock band from Surrey, England. History The band formed in Dorking, Surrey in November 2003. Originally starting out as a two-piece country band, Stagecoach progressed their sound with the addition of each new member, to become the rock band they became. Stagecoach signed to Alcopop! Records in 2009 after sending the "We Got Tazers" EP to label boss Jack Clothier. The EP was recorded by Harvey Birrel, known for his work with Johnny Foreigner and Dananananaykroyd at Southern Studios in Wood Green. Prior to this the band recorded a self funded EP at Iguana Studios in Brixton titled "School Day". 1000 copies were pressed and distributed to record labels, press and also sold at shows. The first ever recordings were produced in the home studio of Alex Miles in Dorking, Surrey and included "Small Town", "Cut Throat" and "Textbook Answers". Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Alcopop! Records
Alcopop! Records is a British independent record label, run by Jack Clothier and Kevin Douch formed in 2006 when the pair lived together in East Oxford. The label works with the likes of DZ Deathrays, Johnny Foreigner, Fight Like Apes, Anamanaguchi, Peaness, TIGERCUB, Gaffa Tape Sandy, The Spook School, Nelson Can, and QI. Inception Alcopop! Records was formally created after a small loan was gambled on the Charlton vs Portsmouth match of 16 September 2006, with money for the first release and show generated from a successful bet on the match. This money was invested in a band from Yeovil called Encyclopedia, with the first single "Emily" (Alcopop001) kicking off the 2006/7 singles club (which also included the likes of Midget, data.select.party and 4 or 5 Magicians). Rory Attwell
Rory Attwell is an English musician, best known for his part in UK punk trio Test Icicles, who formed in 2004 and played a handful of concerts before disbanding on 22 April 2006, after their sold out final show at the Astoria in London. During their time together they released the album '' For Screening Purposes Only'', and had UK Top 40 singles with "What's Your Damage" and " Circle. Square. Triangle". Post Test Icicles After Test Icicles split he went on to form RAT:ATT:AGG (later known as Wrists), with members of Bullet Union, Navajo Code and Abandon Ship. A stagecoach (also: stage coach, stage, road coach, ) is a four-wheeled public transport coach used to carry paying passengers and light packages on journeys long enough to need a change of horses. It is strongly sprung and generally drawn by four horses although some versions are drawn by six horses.
