Sawan Aya Re
''Sawan Aya Re'' (The Monsoon Has Come) is a 1949 Hindi romantic drama film, directed by Kishore Sahu. Produced by Sahu under his "Hindustan Chitra" banner, it had Khemchand Prakash as the music director. The cast included Kishore Sahu, Ramola Devi, David, Pratima Devi, Ramesh Gupta, Sofia and Mohana. The film was a romantic triangle set against the backdrop of a hill station, Nainital. A family arrives on a holiday, but the father is more keen on finding bridegrooms for his three daughters. Plot Anand ( Kishore Sahu) lives in Nainital with his mother (Pratima Devi). They meet the Mathur family who have recently arrived there for holidays. Kishore Sahu
Kishore Sahu (22 November 1915 – 22 August 1980) was an Indian actor, film director, screenwriter, and producer. He appeared in 22 films between 1937 and 1980, and he directed 20 films between 1942 and 1974. His directorial venture Kuwara Baap was one of the winners for the BFJA - Best Indian Films Award for best film for 1943. His film ''Raja'' has been called "a milestone of art and skill in motion pictures". His film '' Veer Kunal'' was a huge box office success. He directed Dilip Kumar with Kamini Kaushal in Nadiya Ke Paar, which became the sixth highest grossing Indian film of 1948. His 1954 film Mayurpankh was entered into the 1954 Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Grand Prize of the Festival. Shamshad Begum
Shamshad Begum (Hindi: शमशाद बेगम, IAST: ''Śamśād Bēgam''; 14 April 1919 – 23 April 2013) was an Indian singer who was one of the first playback singers in the Hindi film industry. Notable for her distinctive voice and range, she sang over 6,000 songs in Hindustani, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, and Punjabi languages, among which 1287 were Hindi film songs. She worked with renowned composers of the time, such as Naushad Ali and O. P. Nayyar, for whom she was one of their favorites. Arzoo Lakhnavi
Arzoo Lakhnavi (born Syed Anwar Hussain; 16 February 1873 17 Apr 1951), also known by the honorary title Allamah Arzoo Lakhnavi, was an Urdu poet and lyricist. He wrote almost in every genre of Urdu poetry such as marsiya, qasida, mathnawi, rubaʿi, naʽat, chronogram inscriptions and particularly gazals and lyrics throughout his life, and by the latter wrote radio plays and scripts for several uncertain Urdu films. He was born to a poet Mir Zakir Hussain 'Yas' as Syed Anwar Hussain around 16 February 1873 in North-Western Provinces, British India (in modern-day Lucknow, India). Mohammed Rafi
Mohammed Rafi (24 December 1924 – 31 July 1980) was an Indian playback singer and musician. He is considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential singers of the Indian subcontinent. Rafi was notable for his versatility and range of voice; his songs varied from fast peppy numbers to patriotic songs, sad numbers to highly romantic songs, qawwalis to ghazals and bhajans to classical songs. Bharat Vyas (1918–1982) was a noted Indian lyricist who wrote the songs for Hindi films in 1950s and 1960s. Biography Bharat Vyas was born in Bikaner in British India on 06 January 1918 in Pushkarna Brahmin family. He studied B.Com. at Calcutta and after completing his studies he came to Bombay. ''filmindia'' is an Indian monthly magazine covering Indian cinema and published in English language. Started by Baburao Patel in 1935, ''filmindia'' was the first English film periodical to be published from Bombay. The magazine was reportedly run "single-handedly" by Patel, who wielded power through this medium to "make or destroy a film". Its most popular column was "The Editor's Mail" answered by Patel. The magazine featured film news, editorials, studio round-ups, gossip, and reviews of different language films, mainly from Hindi and regional cinema and affiliated reviews from Hollywood. His articles included siding with the lesser known cinema workers like the technicians, extras and stuntmen. Patel met the painter S. M.
